Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce: Social Media & Your Website
1. Social Media & Your Website Understanding how it all fits together! Abbi Siler abbi@pleth.com @abbisiler
2. Think About Your Online Strategy What are your goals? Education? Sales? Phone Call? Lead Generation? Communicating an idea, thought, or brand? Where are your customers? Do they interact & research on Facebook? Google? Twitter? LinkedIn? How are you currently trying to reach them? Do you have a website? Is it updated? Do you have control? Is it flexible? Are your customers finding and using your website?
3. Your Website Should be user friendly, easy to access & interactive. Should have a goal & traffic should be monitored. Your web developer or agency should have the ability to integrate social plugins with your website. Icons, like buttons, etc. Understand these changes may take time & development, so request info about pricing to make these additions. You should understand your website’s content management system.
4. Facebook & Your Website 150,561,820 users in the US. 1,320,980 users in the state of Arkansas. 108,200 users within 50 miles of Jonesboro. A simple Facebook Icon alerts visitors to your website of your presence on Facebook. Custom Landing Tabs – a splash page for your Facebook Page that directs traffic back to your website or specific link. Blogs – great way to promote your website on your Facebook page & cross promote your latest news, specials, or information. Social Plugins – “Like” button, Facebook Comments or News Feed (this is a bit technical but can be done!) *Data reflected as of 6/14/2011.
5. Twitter & Your Website 3,164,691 users in the US. 17,131 users in the state of Arkansas. 1,134 users within 25 miles of Jonesboro. Twitter is growing by leaps and bounds & will continue to grow with the new integration of all Apple devices running iOS 5, released this fall. Great for direct website traffic, interacting with a niche industry or community. More targeted audiences & analytics of click through rates and targets on links. Great way to build yourself as a resource in an industry & you can be found internationally. *Data reflected as of 6/14/2011.
6. Your Social Networks Understand the difference - different types of people are on different social networks & use them differently, too. Facebook is not the only social network out there – and it may not always be the best fit for your business. Link to your website – in status updates, information fields, & custom landing tabs on Facebook. Start with one network – grow, and then choose another to work on – don’t over stretch your online marketing efforts.
7. Monitoring Your Online Traffic Hootsuite: Time management tool – schedule tweets, cross promote from one platform, & more. Twitter short link analytics – how many times people click on your tweets links, photos or videos. Facebook Insights: Facebook ‘Like’ demographics Top Cities/Countries/Languages Impressions & Interaction insights Google Analytics: Where are your site visitors hearing about your website? Location/Device/Browser Insight Keyword & Search Engine analytics Entry & Exit pages Monitor your social media traffic
