Review
Here Iwill create review about a thriller film trailer which is called 'The Follower' which the target
Audience was originally aimed at 15+ which is main young male/female adults.
Our film trailer’s canon is ha to be a mixture of ‘The BourneIdentity’ because the is an unknown
character which relates to ours and maybe ‘attack the block’ because in some aspects, our trailer can
relate because we both have an urban environment and having violence in the area. The reason why
we chose to have an unknown person starring in an urban environment is because it will open up
the trailer with enigma codes to help make the audience out of their seats before the trailer hasn’t
even began. As each shot is taken it gives more information about the unknown character it builds
tension.
Having said that the actors and characters in my trailer are generally young adults could mean that
the film trailer is designed for that age group. Also if the audience is the same age as the characters it
is just suitable because there would be a connection meaning both the characters and the audience
maybe go through the same things. Places like the urban environment were used inour movie
trailerto attract the teenage age group so that could understand more as well. These places are i.e.
Denton, Penshurts and Maitland Park which are appealing to a majority of the audience because
they are familiar with these specific locationsIn our movie trailer I used different conventions i.e.
once the quick chase scenes were playing there was intense music building up to make is seem
more anxious and edgy but then stops as the last shot is shown. Having this soundtrack played will
bring out the thriller element to the trailer. After using many enigma codes the audience will feel
more engaged intothe thriller trailer.
During the last scenes as the equilibrium is restored I had the intense music stop to the part when
the movies fades out and that is when the stalker finds the house. The reason I stop the soundtrack
is because I wanted the audience to only hear the knocks on the door and its echo which was really
effective because it emphasises that fact he’s a serious killer and that echo’s represents the fact he’s
lonely. This will grab my audience attention and make them feel like they need to find out what
could happen further on in the movie, having a peaceful scenes at first bring a quiet atmosphere and
then fast paced scenes can switch the thoughts of the audience to make them more anxious etc.
which is a major key role in thrillers.
Having the audience curious generally about what’s going to happen is good because they can find
out in other forms without using context but scenes that are blatantly passing on message which will
happen mostly comes across in inter-titles to help filling up the gaps.

Strengths and Weaknesses
My strengths in this task were that I had established what was going where and how the beginning
would slowly build to the end.
My weaknesses in this task was that because I didn’t have enough time to edit I found it hard trying
to give my trailer that edge that of being just more than a successful thriller trailer. Another problem
that occurred was that when I tried to access my edited work there were technical problems were
the source of the videos weren’t found.
To overcome these problems I had used my free time to find a way around these problems in which I
was successful.
Firstly conducting the research and planning were my strengths because on one of the tasks we had
to come up with three initial ideas and out of the three find which was the most viable to create.
When we created the ideas we had to list the pros and cons of each idea thus making the choice
easier. I came to the decision that ‘Betrayal’ was easier and had met all the conventions of a thriller
film. And primarily the film ‘Betrayal’ had a better narrative then the others I had developed another
reason for choosing that idea was that location wise it was perfect to shoot within the time given.
Budget wise we didn’t need to spend, the case was just gathering the actors and figuring out what
shot types we will use for the scenes. After I had finished developing my ideas we had to form a
team and decide out of our entire final picked ideas whose was the best and meeting the criteria
needed for it to be a successful trailer. We had decided that mines was the best and decided that we
should go ahead and thus enabling us to put into production
When it came to developing the production of my trailer I found it easy because I had developed a
plan to use the week given to us and plot what we were going to do each day and what would be
filmed. But we came across problems for example when it came to filming my teammate wanted to
change the script or location which was frustrating. Another problem which occurred was that the
locations needed were sometimes in the middle of being busy or the lighting wasn’t how we wanted.
Our last issue was that due to the shortage of cameras we would have had to wait for another team
to finish their recording. But to overcome these problems we had come to the sense where I showed
my teammate what I
As we finished shooting we had to edit the scenes perfect enough to fit into the narrative by doing
so we used adobe premiere to develop the movie, and with the good clips together we had a
brilliant sequence. Reviewing the trailer later on I understood and I needed to make some
adjustments that I thought had to be done in order for the trailer to outshine the other trailer. Most
given tasks were achieve and I the editing procedure a success.
I didn’t have enough time to edit which was one of my weaknesses I established it difficult to try
give my thriller trailer that intense edge scenes which is common in most thriller films and without
these shots it would not be a successful thriller trailer. Additionally a problem that kept on
happening was when I tried to access the edited version of the thriller trailer and there was technical
problems the videos was not found.

Overcoming these problems I went into my schedule and used my free time to work my wat around
these problems and hopefully it made my trailer become successful.

Having a perfected our film trailers we still need some improvements, due to the lack of time we thought of
any film narrative as fast as we could. We encountered much error in our group such as deleted work, no
equipment and unorganized work. The Props could have been more professional as well as the editing.
Overcoming these problems I went into my schedule and used my free time to work my way around these
problems and hopefully it made my trailer become successful.as much as thriller conventions as I could add I
did, andwith the finishing result. I believe overall my trailer was a success.
