Every day, we are finding new ways to use and benefit from
artificial intelligence (AI).
But how do taxpayers feel about AI as a way to simplify
their tax dealings with revenue agencies? Are they ready
to use it to get more personalized services?
So we decided to investigate taxpayers’ openness to the
technology in 12 countries - Australia, Denmark, France,
Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore,
Spain, UK and US.

The Accenture Global Taxpayers Survey 2017 was conducted in
March/April 2017 among 6,500 taxpayers aged 18+ who have interacted
with their federal tax authority in the last 12 months. The online survey
was executed by Market Knowledge Online (MKO) with the confidence
level of 95% in twelve countries: Australia, Denmark, France, Ireland,
Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Spain, the U.K. and
the U.S. We surveyed 500 taxpayers in each country, apart from in the
U.S. where the sample was 1,000. Respondents were surveyed in their
local languages, with English used in Singapore. Respondents included
part- and full-time employees, retirees, the self-employed, and small
