Department of History was established in 1982.
Combinations Offered:
History, Economics, Political Science
Bangalore University has introduced
choice based credit system from 2014-15.

To impart quality education in History to rural and
economically weaker students.
To create interest to opt for History as a major subject
in higher education.
To make the students creative and research oriented.
To raise the standard of our students to global levels
and make them employable.
To provide a platform to the students to exhibit their
talents & creativity.

knowledge but also to inculcate a sound

Future Plans
To conduct more number of syllabus oriented seminars
from the students.
To conduct life skill development programmes regularly
after the class hours.
To give various project work to develop the department.
To improve HISTORY HERITAGE lab with charts, models
and inscription photos 50 to 80 years ancient vessels,
ornaments, coins, etc.
To train the students for job opportunities.

 One of our students has cleared main KAS
competitive examination, got appointed from KPSC,
worked as Assistant commissioner of BBMP,
Bangalore.
 More than 10 students cleared the KPSC
competitive examination of KES and got
appointment as Head Masters.
 O5 Students have cleared NET/SLET Exam and
working as Guest Faculty.

 Many students of our college got place in
corporate sector with MBA & MSW qualification
 One of our students was selected and appointed as
Assistant Manager in Karnataka Bank.
 Many students of our college are selected and
appointed as Panchayat Development officer.

tutorial classes

Weakness:
 Poor communication skill in both verbal and non-
verbal.
 Limited job-opportunities.
 Deteriorating students strength.
 Limited scope to introduce various combinations.
 The majority of the students come from Poor-Socio-
Economic background and they may not have good
academic background.

Opportunities:
 There is no competing degree college in
Gowribidanur Taluk, hence it may be easy to
attract more students by offering need based
course.
 More scope to use modern technology aids in
teaching learning programs.
 Communication and other skill development
programs for students.
 To train and counsel students to become
more employable.

 Challenges (Threats)
 More drop-outs due to early marriages.
 Attracting qualitative students because two
more colleges in the town.
 Accepting and adopting and updating the
technologies teaching and learning.
 In recent time the number of students opting
BA course is declining due to more
professional colleges and encouragement to
the technical courses.

 Future Plans
