- 3. Candidacy • 127 political parties were registered with the Election Commission out of which 120 (94.49%) political parties submitted the candidacy.
- 4. Source of Candidacy • There are a total of 6128 candidates in this election, out of which 1115 are independent candidates.
- 5. Gender Composition of CA Candidates • Out of 6128 candidates, 5460 candidates are male, 667 are female and 1 is Third gender. Gender Composition 11% Male Female 89% Third Gender

- Though the legal minimum age for registering the candidacy is 21, the youngest candidate this election is 25 years, depicting that active political participation in Nepal starts at 25. The age of the candidates extends till 85. 249 candidates are aged 42. The top 5 weight of candidates is in between 35-43. The average age of the candidates is 53. An independent candidate Rudra Prasad Gurung from Kaski constituency number 3 is the oldest candidate. There are 63 candidates aged 25. By average age of candidates. Ramechaap (41.03) is the youngest and Jumla (57.30) is the oldest.
- Out of 6128 candidates, 2507 are youth. 41% among the candidates are youth while 58% are older than 40. These statistics can create some hope among young people that more and more youth are getting the opportunity to have their voice heard for the future they want. However, the scenario looks depressing when we analyze the candidates according to their (major) political parties.
- Nepal Pariwar Dal has 102 youth candidates which is followed by the United Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) with 96 Candidates. Nepal MajdurKisan party stands 3rd by providing 67 seats to youth. The MadheshiJanadhikar Forum, Nepal provides 66 seats, SanghiyaSamjwadi Party, Nepal provides 65 seats.When we look at other major political parties, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) provides 25 seats to the young candidates; Nepali Congress provides only 11 seats which is 4.58% of the total candidates. The presented chart clearly portrays the information of 10 political parties with highest number of seats allocated for youth candidates.25% parties have less than 5 FPTP candidates. 50% of parties have less than 18 FPTP candidates75% of parties have less than 44 FPTP candidates.
- 40% of the candidates from Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) are youth. Out of 240 constituencies, youth are competing from 96 constituencies. The youngest candidate from the party is aged 28 and oldest 70.
- 4.58% of the candidates from Nepali Congress are youth. Out of 240 constituencies, youth are competing from 11 constituencies. The youngest candidate from the party is aged 31 and oldest 78.
- 10.42% of the candidates from Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) are youth. Out of 240 constituencies, youth are competing from 25 constituencies. The youngest candidate from the party is aged 26 and oldest 69.
