Kudos Badges for IBM Connections is designed to
accelerate user adoption of IBM Connections by
encouraging users to leverage the full range of social
services.	

Leveraging reward and recognition, gamification
techniques, and adoption focused analytics, within IBM
Connections to enable you to design and target adoption
programs for your users, resulting in improved user
engagement and adoption of IBM Connections.	

Kudos Badges is an extensible platform that can also
provide reward and recognition for systems and
applications outside of IBM Connections such as Sales, HR,
Help Desks, and many more.	

Kudos Badges Overview
Our design goals
Kudos Badges for IBM Connections was designed and developed
from the ground up specifically for IBM Connections users. The
Kudos team are recognized IBM Connections Experts with
extensive user adoption experience.	

•  Design Goal 1 -To encourage both initial, and importantly, sustained adoption of
IBM Connections.	

•  Design Goal 2 - Having done that, encourage users to explore and have a
broader and deeper usage of IBM Connections across the range of social
services available	

•  Design Goal 3 -To ensure that Kudos Badges can also be used to drive adoption
and behaviour of systems, applications, and culture, outside of IBM Connections
as well.
•  Kudos leaderboards help encourage sustained adoption of IBM Connections.	

•  Rewards participation for not just quantity of activity but more importantly quality
of contribution.	

•  Provides for both the entire environment and community based leaderboards.	

•  View just my network of peers or everyone across Connections.	

•  Time based leaderboards enable new users to get involved quickly and encourage
existing users to maintain their involvement.	

•  Shows experts in areas of Connections so you can get help and coaching from
your peers.	

•  Can be extended to allow leaderboards for applications outside of Connections
as well.	

Kudos Leaderboards
•  The Kudos Progress Widget is a powerful technique to
encourage users to take simple next steps.	

•  Often used for obvious/basic criteria such as have you
uploaded a Profile Photo, updated your contact
information, completed your background.	

•  Can also be used for more advanced criteria such as
have you joined your first community, have you shared
a file, or have you participated in a discussion
forum......in the last 30 days?	

•  Can integrate into external applications as well such as
HR. Have you completed your first aid training this
year?	

Kudos Progress Widget
•  Kudos Badges provides a series of out of the box challenges and tasks designed to
encourage users to explore and learn the intrinsic business value of IBM
Connections.	

•  Leverage the provided Badges, customize them, or build your own with custom
rules and images. Full multi-lingual support.	

•  Badges start simple, and progressively get more difficult to achieve, encouraging
users to leverage the more advance features of Connections as well as explore
across the various social services.	

•  Kudos Achievement Levels encourage sustained adoption and ensure users
leverage the full range of social services.	

•  Kudos Missions show which social services users have learnt, and which they are
yet to explore. Badges achieved are displayed on their profile and they can view
their remaining badges yet to be achieved.	

Kudos Badges & Missions
•  KudosThanks is a Peer to Peer recognition and praise capability. Enables IBM
Connections users to sayTHANKS and call out great work with their team and
colleagues.	

•  Creates a positive culture of encouragement and recognition. Enables the day to
day successes to be captured and shared in a positive way. Other users can Like
and comment via the Activity Stream.Also allows user to “Tag” with expertise as
part of theThanks.	

•  Provides for an allowance/scarcity factor, which creates a greater perceived value
from both the giver and receiver ofThanks. 	

•  ManagementThanks are restricted to who can give them out to certain users and
team leaders.	

•  Add s a positive reason for users to get involved in Connections as they become
proud of theirThanks Profile and build reputation.	

Kudos Thanks
•  Provides a framework for a management awards program.	

•  Similar to KudosThanks but more designed to allow HR/Management to grant
significant awards to users such asTenure/Years of Employment, Certifications and
Achievements, and other significant awards.	

•  Provides for both manual awards via the Kudos Awarder Widget, as well as
automated awards driven by Kudos Metrics and your data.	

•  Design a series of Awards or Goals for users to work towards.	

Kudos Awards
•  Kudos Analytics is a reporting and analytics engine for IBM Connections and Kudos
Badges focused on user adoption.	

•  From what we hear most people just need a light weight reporting capability.We
leverage the awesome Metrics Application that IBM Connections 4.x provides plus
our own Kudos data to gain insights.	

•  Takes about 10 minutes to install!!!!	

•  Provides reporting and analytics at 3 levels	

•  Connections Administrator - i.e.Which Communities are Active? Which aren t?	

•  Community Manager - i.e.Which of my users contribute the most valued content? Which
users need some enablement/encouragement?	

•  Personal Analytics - i.e.Which of my content is most used by others?

"Since introducing Kudos Badges for IBM Connections, we have had major success with increased user
adoption.An important factor for making a commitment to IBM's social business platform was the ability
to find employee's via skill set and knowledge, accomplished through tagging user profiles with skills,
experience and interests. 	

The number of profiles with these tags has increased by 40% since the introduction of Kudos Badges.
Another example is Blogs + 40% in number of created blogs and 130% increase in number of Blog entries
since Kudos Badges implementation.
