  2. 2. Routines: What you do with your morning and afternoon routines is totally p to you. Whether it is engaging in vigorous exercise, enjoying the serenity of quiet morning hours, or following intellectual pursuits, take control of your own time. Building a routine creates a habit, which is how you will accomplish what you want too.
  3. 3. SelfControl (App): Those of us who just can’t seem to pry our eyes away from Facebook or Twitter should consider installing a nifty app called SelfControl. It allows you to assign certain websites to a blacklist and set a timer. Once the timer begins, you won’t be able to access those sites at all, even if you unplug or restart your computer.
  4. 4. Pomodoro Technique: Take a break. Really. Working around the clock during your time in the office is a surefire way to lead to burnout, distractions, or stalled productivity. The pomodoro technique, will surely help you balance your work while improving your mental stamina. set a timer and work for 25 minutes. Make that 25 minutes as focused as you can. Once that timer goes off, set another for 5 minutes, and let your mind wander.
  5. 5. Abide by the Rules… Your Own Rules: Having a code of ethics may not have a direct impact on your work, but that compass will guide you well. Also, it could come in handy when faced with a difficult decision– you may have a rule that helps you find the answer.
  6. 6. Plan Your Week: Planning your week allows you to have a grasp of what needs to be done in the home and at work. If you’re just getting into a routine, too, you can also place reminders for what you want to accomplish while you bookend your day.
  7. 7. Limits. Know Them: Don’t push yourself to the point of exhaustion. I can’t stress that enough. Life will become much easier if you can break your day down into manageable tasks. Pick three major tasks you want to complete in any given day, and do them. When you exceed your limits, you run the risk of spreading yourself too thin, which can affect the quality of the work you actually manage to get done.
  8. 8. Master Email: Planning your week allows you to have a grasp of what needs to be done in the home and at work. If you’re just getting into a routine, too, you can also place reminders for what you want to accomplish while you bookend your day. For many people, email remains a major distraction.
