Are You In Control Of Your Life?
Fate Doesn’t ask you what you want,
Fate knows what’s Best.
Do you really control your Life?
We all live each day in a different manner. Some end up being happy, sad,
excited, surprised and so on. The basis of our lives and the various outcomes
are dependent on the choices that we make in our life. Now, it is very obvious
that most of the times these choices that we make to control our lives in a
desired way are made in our complete authority and without coercion.
The outcomes, whatever they may be are fully accepted by us. I have a
question for you
No there is no right answer to that question. There has always been a tussle
between the two beliefs. The two lines of thought are:
1. I am a result of the choices I have made in the Past.
2. I am a result of the things that happened to me in the past, irrespective
of my choices.
The second one is a bit tricky to understand, simply because it some-what
violates out natural instinct to CONTROL everything. That’s a fact, isn’t it?
2. We humans love to control everything and when we realize that something
cannot be controlled we either try to destroy it or try to neglect it as baseless.
Quite recently there have been major studies in science that point to the fact
that not ALL our choices are consciously made by us.
Many philosophers of the past have given it many names like Fate, Destiny
etc. This concept is difficult to
understand in the west simply
because it negates our control
over things. In the east this is
taught as a life lesson,
something which must be
accepted as a given.
Now I am not advocating which
is better, both paths have their
own benefits and drawbacks.
When you come to believe that you can control everything, you would end up
being extremely frustrated and dissatisfied with everything that is not
happening according to your desire.
This is a very natural state of being which would eventually adversely affect
the overall well-being of your mind and body. Also if you just leave things on
FATE and not do anything, even then it is a problem because in that case no
inventions and discoveries would have been possible!!
But when you try to maintain a balance between the two, you would achieve
PEACE. When you know that some things are not under your control and that
you can just LET GO, you will definitely feel your mind coming to a state of
peace and tranquility.
Related: Do You Believe In Fate?
The Buddhist have a very well-defined concept of Fate. You can read about it
here. They believe that no matter what choices you make in your life, you
would always end up where you should be. This is a self-explanatory theory
which has no scope for further probing. When one tries to analyze it, you will
find that in believing that you are where you should be, there is a strong sense
of calm. Many sages during the times have pointed to this concept in their own
ways.
Osho also tried to explain the same thing in her discourses,
The idea which I am trying to put forth is that If one realizes that we need to
3. take life as it comes and not try to control it in any manner, it would make
things easier.
