- My name is Adrian Dayton, speaking to you from New York where it is 10:15 PM Thursday evening.I want to start by talking about an old TV show, Batman staring Adam West- Did that TV show ever make it to Australia? In the Wayne home there was the normal telephone, and then there was the red bat phone.That would ring whenever someone was in danger. The red phone would ring to announce the important stuff, the urgent matters.As in-house attorneys- wouldn’t it be great to have a little bit of warning before the red phone rings? - The power to LISTEN in real timeI sat with a CEO and two VP’s of a large Tech company and asked the CEO, what are they saying about your company on Twitter?He looked left, look right and asked his VP’s- they are saying good things about us, right?The VP scrunched their shoulders and said, we don’t know- we think they are saying good things about us.If you haven’t done this yet, I am going to give you a quick way to learn what people are saying this very moment about your company!NEXT SLIDE

The risks are NOT what you think they are.The greatest risk is NOT that your company will be exposed through social media, the greatest risk is that your company will fail to properly use these tools because their in-house counsel have createdPolicies so draconian they are unable to take advantage of the power of these tools.
