1. Rock Painting Materials: Rocks, Paint, Paint Tool (brush, Q-Tip)
While this can get a little messy (any paint project can!), it is super easy to
find rocks perfect for this activity. Encourage kids to make any design they
want—make it look like a pet, a character, or just a favorite design! Acrylic
paint is ideal, but make sure to be extra careful around clothes.

Pop Bottle Firefly Materials: Empty Plastic Bottle, Glow Sticks, Glue,
Googly Eyes, Foam Sheets, Pipe Cleaners, Tissue paper
Upcycling crafts are the best! Decorate a ready-to-be-recycled bottle with
foam, tissue paper, and pipe cleaners to look like an adorable firefly. Get
creative! Break that glow stick, and pop it inside your bottle before closing
the lid for that cool light-up effect!

Clothespin Dragonflies Materials: Clothespin, Pipe Cleaners, Googly
Eyes, Markers, Glue
Use those markers to decorate your clothes pins! Attach googly eyes (and
remember you don’t have to stop at two!). Bend pipe cleaner ends to the
middle and twist. Secure your “wings” inside the clothespin and make your
dragonfly fly!

Origami Finger Puppets Materials: Square paper, Marker or Pen
There are sooooo many cute origami critters out there, just waiting to be
made! Do a quick Google search for step-by-step tutorials or visit your local
library for a book or two (or ten!).

Pinwheel Materials: Square paper, scissors, Pencil, Straw, Pushpin, Tape
Pinwheels are so pretty and so easy to make! Mark the center of your
square paper (you can use a ruler if you want). Draw a diagonal line from
each corner about halfway to the center dot. Cut each line. Fold alternat-
ing points to the center dot and push a pushpin through them all (this
step takes patience!). Use a second set of hands to push the pin through a
straw at the back. Use some tape to cover the point part of the pin!

Tic Tac Toe Materials: Tiny Drawstring Bag, Fabric Tape,
8-10 Buttons in two different colors
There is nothing better than a craft that doubles as a game! This can be
made in so many different ways. You just need to pick your background—
could be a bag, could be cardstock. Add some cute tape for grid lines, and
find or make items to use as your x’s and o’s!
