  1. Greg: Today we are introducing you to a new concepts getting a lot of press and stimulating a lot of discussion in educational circles. We are going to take some time today to discover what the Flipped Classroom means, it implications, and potential limitations of this model.

  3. Greg: Survey Results…what you said. Some of the greatest challenges of teaching the IB: Time: Inadequate to teach the materials and not enough time to practice new materials Lack of opportunity for one-on-one support and teaching Student Preparation Teacher preparation POINT: The Flipped Model can address some of these issues.
  4. You also said you would like technology to help you in the following ways: Make your class-time more efficient Help to engage students Improve performance in the course Give access to resources
  5. Greg and Stacy This is a strategy that potentially can address some of these issues. Greg and Stacy explain: Origins (Science teachers in Colorado), popularized by Salman Khan and Dan Pink based on his information from Karl Fitsch (Fitsch Flip) Basic ideas. You move some of the thinks you do in class with class-time to homework and outside of class time. Student then come into class and do what might have been done as home work (problem sets, etc) in class with more differentiation and support from the teacher. Or to engaged the student in other types of activities like more discussion, more handone learning, projects, problem solving etc. Shift some of the learning outside of class into the students hands outside of class. Has the potential to free up time in class for lots of other activities. The theory, application and practice are really in flux. There is not one way of doing it, the Salman Khan example is just one way, not the only way. Show Video on Salman Khan Then Discuss, what do you think about this? What are some of your reservations?
