Janusz Groszkowski




Janusz Groszkowski (born March       21, 1898 in Warsaw, died. August 3, 1984 in
Warsaw) - a scientist engaged in electronics and radio technician, engineer,
president of the Polish Academy of Sciences, politician, Member of Parliament,
Chairman of National Committee of the National Unity Front and Deputy Chairman of
the Council of State.
He        graduated      from Warsaw       University   of     Technology (1919) and
the Communications Officers School in Paris (1922). Already in 1929 he received the
title of Professor. extraordinary, and 1935 prof. ordinary technical sciences. From
1952 he was member of the PAN, in the years1955-1980 Member, Executive
Committee, 1957-1962 Vice President, and in the years 1962 to 1971 president of
PAN.
During the 1923-1939 academic teacher Warsaw University of Technology, in the
years 1929-1939 Director of the Institute of radio engineering (since 1933 under the
name of the National Telecommunication Institute) in Warsaw. In the years 1940-
1941 he worked at Polytechnic Institute in Lvov. As an Army soldier in 1941-
1944 was an adviser on scientific and technical communication the Government
Delegation for the Country. In the years 1945-1946 he worked at the Technical
University of Lodz, while again from 1945director of the National Institute
of Telecommunications (until 1951). Since 1946, he returned towork at the Warsaw
Polytechnic (to 1968). In the years 1953-1963 was also associated with the Institute
of Fundamental Technological Research (he was one of the organizers of this
institution.)In 1968 he retired. In the years 1968-1971 Vice-President, and in 1971-
1976 chairman of the National Committee of the National Unity Front. In the
years 1972-1976 Member of Parliament nonpartisan PRL sixth term of office and the
deputy chairman of the State Council. In the years 1974-1979 ZBoWiD. member of
the Supreme Council in February 1976 resigned from the management of the
National        Unity Front and made       a mandate      in     the      parliament in
protest against changes in the constitution, which established the Communist
Party leadership and the       alliance with    the    USSR.        Since 1929,     he
was (youngest), Warsaw University of Technology professor, scholar of world
renown, a comprehensive, both general technical interest, humanities and natural
sciences(physics, chemistry). First of all, was a great electronics engineer. He has
published in print about 300 scientific papers and popular reports.
In many later works of other scholars of world renown, his designs were used,
and exit. Groszkowski is also counted among the pioneers in the field of radio
engineering systems. He brought considerable contribution to the development
of principles         of      operation and      construction      of the         radar.
He        wrote         several works     on the     production and        stabilization
of electrical oscillations and high vacuum technology and vacuum tubes. Is the
creator of the method of analysis of nonlinearoscillations (known as the method of
harmonic Groszkowski). He           developed an    original     interpretation        of
the inductance changes depending on temperature. Not everyone knows that it is
through such energy and support Groszkowski was to convene in February 1930, the
first congress in Warsaw, Polish hams and the establishment of the Polish
Association of Amateur Radio, where he was elected the first president (although he
was not a licensed ham). Later it was also the first honorary member of the
Association                   and Badges of              Honour carries PZK No. 001
During                      World                  War                    II worked for
the Army communications transmitters simple quartz stabilized          and started the
successful work of decoding the control system V1 flying bombs and V2 rockets
captured by the Army, which enabled the conduct of an effective defense against the
V-1 attacks on London.
