2. My main product looks at the
influence of intertextuality, with
close relation to conventions from
different genres and previous
products that have influenced the
production of my project. The
creativity of designing and
developing a new product is always
established by adaptations of
existing products.

3. The main protagonist is featured in both of
my ancillary tasks, along with the killer
in the gas mask. I thought it would be
effective to include both characters to
express a contrast between them. The
female protagonist projects an emotion
of fear and the killer in the gas mask
projects a solid and cold look of danger
that is almost inhuman.

4. The red, white and black colour
scheme is featured in both of my
ancillary tasks, creating a theme
that is recognisable for my trailer.
The image of the protagonist in the
ancillary tasks gives the audience a
character they can empathise with
in contrast to the domineering
figure of the killer.

5. The industry is vulnerable with the genre of
psychological horrors because there have been so
many released in recent years that there appears to
be a pattern developing with the concept of
narratives. Films such a Paranormal Activity have
engrossed the industry with layout of the
independent film as a form of a home documentary,
with the protagonist being in charge of the majority
of cinematography. This is something that we
incorporated into our trailer because of the link to
the danger in the film being a figment of her
imagination. For example, there are shots of her
walking in a dream-like state when pursuing the
man in the mask.

6. Other means of distribution could
include social networking sites like
Twitter, Facebook and video sites
like Youtube that dominate the
population of the internet. However,
in terms of viral marketing, other
forms of distribution could include
television adverts, billboards and
magazine articles.

7. When it comes to distribution, the trailer should
be viewed in a cinema screenings prior to the
main feature. This is because of the idea of it
being in a dark screening and that will
contribute to the frightening atmosphere of the
genre. Initially, independent films like Slumdog
Millionaire by Danny Boyle were distributed at
film festivals in order to attain a wide fan base;
however this could possibly diminish the ‘scary’
demeanour of the trailer if displayed in an open
and bright area.

8. The target audience for this trailer would
be people in the age range of 18-30
because people around this age would
be more susceptible to the danger in the
trailer and have been known to be more
responsive to horror footage.
