Jumping in we’ll talk about Mendeley’s reference management features first
Introducing your Mendeley desktop LibraryOnce downloaded helps you create an organized library of your workThis is what the interface looks like, it is very similar to iTunes like interface. It has 3 panels- menu bar (left), references (middle), reference metadata (right)

Mendeley Desktop’s Files organizerKeep a copy of your Mendeley library with organized file name structure and folder structure you set up.
Once you maintain a Mendeley library you can use it to cite in papers and create bibliographies easily.
Plugins we support for Windows word, Mac word, OpenOffice and BibTex. To get started: Download the plugin and a toolbar will be available in your word processing software. Click insert citation- search the paper(s) you want to cite and click ok
Once you have added a series of citations throughout your paper generate a bibliography in one click. You can also drag and drop or use copy and paste to take references from your Mendeley Desktop Library and insert them into other editors like Google Docs.

The Mendeley research catalog: Is generated by the citations that are synced to the cloud and then made publically searchable. There are over 200+ Million documents in the database making it the worlds largest open research database.Organizes research as it is added to the database- look at the most popular papers, or the latest added. You can also browse by discipline, do keyword searches or advanced searches.
When you click on a paper you are taken to this page, where you can:See a pdf preview of the paper (we work with publishers to make these available, so available for some not all papers)Add the article with one click to your library, if it is freely availableSet up Open URL resolver to locate full text within say your university library, if it is not freely availableLink to related open access papers if cannot get full text of content
