3. The idea of a ‘high concept’ is the plot/idea within the film is striking and
easy to understand and follow.
Some examples of high concepts being:
Crime .
Historical event/ time period .
Action/adventure.
Mystery; gathering evidence, solving suspicions.
The reason for using a high concept is to deliver more originality to the film
therefore avoiding the predictable and somewhat cliché storylines that are
often associated with the thriller genre.

5. This psychological thriller was set in 1954 when a marshal (Teddy
Daniels) was sent to investigate the case of a missing person from
the mental hospital at Shutter Island.
Teddy soon realises that the doctors treating the patients are
acting far from ethical and use conspicuously cruel methods of
treatment.Teddy knows the evidence he needs to use in order to
reveal the sinister events taking place in Shutter Island – but he
cannot gain access to the files.
As an intense hurricane cuts off all communication from the island
and the rest of the world,Teddy finds himself more and more
isolated from everyone else. Not only is he physically isolated from
the world but also from the other people at the hospital as he is
unable to share his newfound knowledge about the un acceptable
actions of those who are meant to be most trusted.
What with the storm causing some patients to ‘escape’,Teddy’s
increasing isolation and the overall experience,Teddy begins to
question his own sanity….

6. After an FBI’s agent’s wife was killed in an operation dealing with a terrorist
group, he becomes increasingly interested with these dangerous people –
some may even say obsessed.
With the arrival of his new neighbors brings about his prior suspicions.The
more involved the FBI agent becomes with his neighbors, the more his
theories escalate.
