In two or three dimensions, a saddle point is the minimum point along one axis and the maximum point along another. Saddle points resemble the center of a Pringles chip and can be seen on contour maps as the point between two high points, like the intersection of a figure eight drawn around two mountains. In game theory and programming, a saddle point occurs when a player maximizes their chance of winning while minimizing their opponent's ability to win.
