DEFINITION-
According to the bio medical
rules,1998 of India, BIO MEDICAL WASTE means any
waste which is generated during the diagnosis,
treatment or immunization of human beings or animals
or in research activities or in production or in testing
the bio medicals.

12. TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL OF BIOMEDICAL WASTE
Treatment and disposal of biomedical waste can be
done using following methods—
Incineration.
Autoclaving.
Shredding.
Disposal option.
13. INCINERATION
Incineration process requires high temp. Combustion
under control condition to convert infectious waste
into inert gases and minerals.
85% to 90% of the total BMW is done by this
process.
The key parameters of an Incinerator are-
Temp should be 900-1000*c.
The waste to be exposed for at least for 2 sec.
Should have an air pollution control equipment.
