Una definizione di intelligenza
• intelligènza (ant. intelligènzia) s. f. [dal lat. intelligentia, der. di intelligĕre
«intendere»].
[Dizionario Treccani]
• n. the ability to derive information, learn from experience, adapt to the
environment, understand, and correctly utilize thought and reason

Charles Spearman e
il «g Factor»
1904: «two-factor theory»

Intelligenza fluida e
cristallizzata
«Fluid ability has the character of a purely
general ability to discriminate and perceive
relations between any fundaments, new or old…
It is associated with the action of the whole
cortex. It is responsible for the intercorrelations,
or general factor, found among children’s tests
and among the speeded or adaptation-requiring
tests of adults.
Crystallized ability consists of discriminatory
habits long established in a particular field,
originally through the operation of fluid ability,
but no longer requiring insightful perception for
their successful operation.»

Il ruolo della memoria nella misurazione
dell’intelligenza
«Luigi è molto intelligente, si ricorda tutte le
date degli eventi importanti a memoria»
«Laura è molto intelligente, riesce tenere a
mente facilmente le connessioni tra gli
argomenti trattati a scuola»
«Fabio è molto intelligente, appena gli dici una
cosa se la ricorda subito»
«Martina è molto intelligente, riesce a tenere
a mente molte cose contemporaneamente e a
trovare sempre soluzioni creative ai problemi»

Il modello rivisto: il buffer episodico
• The component proposed is a buffer in that it serves as an
interface between a range of systems, each involving a
different set of codes. It is assumed to achieve this by
using a common multi-dimensional code. The buffer is
assumed to be limited in capacity because of the
computational demand of providing simultaneous access
to the necessarily wide range of different codes.
• The episodic buffer can be accessed by the central
executive through the medium of conscious awareness.
The executive can, furthermore, influence the content of
the store by attending to a given source of information,
whether perceptual, from other components of working
memory, or from LTM.
Baddeley, 2000

«My reluctance to tackle the executive stemmed from two sources: first,
its probable complexity, and second, because of the crucial importance
of its attentional capacity. Although there were a number of highly
developed and sophisticated theories of attention, most were concerned
with the role of attention in perception, whereas the principal role of the
CE was the attentional control of action. The one directly relevant article
I could find (Norman & Shallice 1986) appeared as a chapter because of
the difficulty of persuading a journal to accept it (Shallice 2010, personal
communication), alas, all too common with papers presenting new
ideas»

Il Sistema Supervisore Attentivo
«A major feature of our model is that for welllearned
action sequences two levels of control are possible:
deliberate conscious control and automatic contention
scheduling of the horizontal threads. Possibly the
strongest evidence for the existence of both levels comes
from neuropsychology. The functions we assume for the
supervisory attentional control those that require
"deliberate attention"correspond closely with those
ascribed by Luria (1966) to prefrontal regions of the
brain, thought by Luria to be required for the
programming, regulation, and verification of activity. In
this view, if the Supervisory Attentional System were
damaged the resulting»

comportamentali adattive a situazioni e stimoli nuovi,
complessi o ambigui
(Hughes et al., 2005)
“First, they all address, to some degree, mental capacities that
direct or cue the use of other mental processes and/or motor
responses. Second, they all address functions that have some
link to activation of portion of the frontal lobe regions of the
cerebral cortex”
(McCloskey et. al,2009).
