We are a startup called Earlyclaim.
On August 9th 2014 we released a basic landing page in a few Facebook groups
to test our idea and gain feedbacks.
In the next 6 days we were (unplanned) featured on Product Hunt, Fast
Company and Gizmodo: we were not ready for them.
We would like to share with you what we learned.

Product Hunt: best to reach “startup people” and investors: great buzz seed. We
assume high bounce was due to lack of information about our startup
Fast Company: best performer on social medias: it got shared. A lot. Lowest bounce
Gizmodo largest traffic generator and geographical reach. Instrumental in getting the
word out to Asian / Oceanic countries and start buzz there.
EXTRA POINTS
Hacker News (surfaced on August 10th) only generated 124 unique visitors. Lack of
information about our startup was a real, huge problem for this source.
Twitter was a crucial distribution channel, driving momentum/buzz/coverage.
