Top 100 IoT technology innovation entities insights from patents! Patents are a good information resource for the state of the art of IoT technology innovation insights. Patents that specifically describe the major IoT technologies are a good indicator of the IoT innovations in a specific innovation entity. To find IoT technology innovation status, patent applications in the USPTO during the period of January 1, 2009 – June 30, 2020 in priority date that specifically describe the major IoT technologies are searched and reviewed. 16,000 published patent applications that are related to the key IoT technology innovation are selected for detail analysis. Top 100 IoT technology innovation entities are selected based on their number of published patent applications. Following figure shows the landscape of the top 100 IoT technology innovation entities with respect to number of published patent applications. The top 100 IoT technology innovation entities represent 8,400 patent applications.
