2. BRAND
DESCRIPTION:
Created by Los Angeles roller
derby player, Michelle “Estro
Jen” Steilen, Moxi Roller
Skates offers quad-roller
skates and roller skating-
inspired street wear.
The name Ivy comes from one
of the creator, Estro Jen’s
favourite roller derby girl.
Estro describes teammate Ivy
as “the most bestial,
animalistic gal with the largest
hunger for attention.” So,
when coming up with a name
for her first printed roller
skate, she drew inspiration
from Ivy.
Estro was a marketing
professional before she
became a roller derby
enthusiast. After being
disappointed by the lack of
manoeuvrability in popular
skating sports, she turned to
roller derby.
The sport made her realize that there’s a need for the revival of roller skating. So she decided to use her
marketing experience to make sure that roller skating never dies. Such passion resulted in the creation
of the Moxi Roller Skates.
