1) An oil spill occurred while two men were fishing, causing their boat to overheat and throw them into the water where a strange monster emerged from the sea. 2) The monster, who had a bird head, tiger body, and fish tail, tried to help the men but they swam away in fear and told news reporters, who decided to capture the creature. 3) Though the news people tried to take the monster, he escaped and cut the power lines to their station, stopping their report and saving his family from being captured.

1. Something Smells Fishy

2. Once, on a dark and wet afternoon there was an oil spill. Two men were out fishing. The boat got
very hot. Suddenly the boat flung the two men into the sizzling water. All of a sudden a monster
bounded out of the water! The monster was a miniature guy with a bird head, a tiger body, and a fish
tail. He lived all alone with his family.

3. The two men swam away in fright. The monster said, "I just wanted to help". The two men swam all
the way to shore. The men told the news people and they did a whole story on it. The people at the
news station were surprised! The news people whispered to each other. They decided to snatch the
monster and take him to the aquarium! The news people went out and tried to take him away, but the
monster slithered away on the ocean floor.

4. The monster tried to reason with them, but they captured him and sent him away. They hurt him in
the net, and he could not move. His parents swam after him like lightening and fire burning together.
But the boat was so fast they were shot out of the engine. They were flung way back to the harbor.
Their hearts were pounding as their son was struggling through the giant net. He finally got out!

5. When the news people went on the air, the monster swam through the rippling water. He
unplugged the power lines that were at the bottom of the ocean. The power went out and they could
not do the show. The monster was satisfied. He had saved his family from disaster!

6. The news people quit their jobs and found that the monster was very cuddly and helpful. He and
his family lived happy lives since then.
