2. Radar
• Radar was first used by the Germans and Great Britain.
• Great Britain called it RDF standing for Range and Direction Finding.
• While in Gemany it was call Funkmessgerät (radio measuring device).
• In the mid 1940's the Royal Airforce in Britain had put them up for
Britains air defense.
• While in Germany, they did not use radar a lot, Adolf Hitler did not
support the idea.

4. Atomic Bomb
• On August 6 1945 a U.S. B29 bomber dropped an atomic bomb on the
Japanese city of Hiroshima, three days later another bomb was
dropped but in the city of Nagasaki.
• Hiroshima - 80,000+ died
• Nagasaki - 40,000+ died
• Manhattan Project - Since 1942 over 100,000 scientist have been
working on bombs.

7. Aircraft
• In wwII planes were more sleeker, powerful and advance.
• Instead of being made of wood like most wwI planes were, wwII
planes were made of aluminum.
• They also used supercharged piston engines.
• The jet engine was developing during wwII by Germany, Great Britain
and the U.S.
• Towards the end of the war, large bombers were developed
• For Example: the B29 bomber (superfortress) was the bomber that
nuked Japan.

11. Computer
• In wwII Germany used two similar machines to encrypt messages
prior to radioi transmission.
• The two machines were called "Enigma" and "Fish".
• The German's were so confident in these two machines they said it
could not be broken. They were wrong, British cryptanalysts broke
both Enigma and Fish.

14. Tanks
• Tanks in wwII grew larger in production in most countries
• There was an advancement in tanks improving there speed, armour,
efficiency, guns and many more.
• Here is a quote from Hasso Manteuffel, commander of the German
7th Panzer Division
"Tanks must be fast. That, I would say, is the most important lesson
of the war in regard to tank design. The Panther was on the right
lines, as a prototype."
