Media products 2
1. How did you use new
media technologies in
construction and
research, planning and
evaluation?
2. The Internet
In order for me to complete my media project I needed to utilise a range of
technologies. So that I could materialise the ideas I had in my head and to
work out and apply conventions to my music video and magazine products.
Initially me and group carried out research and the main method was the
internet. This was the main form of research simply because it is so
comprehensive, all the information we needed was a click away. We mainly
needed to find out what genre we was going to do, and once that was
established learn about conventions that are used in videos and
advertisement.
The main site that were used were rewind ( magazine website) and youtube for
the music videos in the genre we decided to use which was grime/hiphop.
Also google was the main search engine that was used to help use gage
what we would need to dres our artists in.
3. Wordpress
I used the search engine google Wordpress was sued to
to get a lot of the necessary showcase our work. Allowing it
research done. E.g finding to be easily viewed by both
examples of existing music covers lecturers and examiners with
adverts theory's of music videos. ease.
Wordpress
Facbook
Facebook was used to
promote our music
video to a mass
market and the people
that were interested
commented.
4. Youtube has become and increasingly important website that is used
.
but people for a range of different reasons We used the site to
view music videos in the hip-hop genre in the search to pin point
key conventions that's are used. This would include what us worn
what kind of shots are and aren't used the length, the style(e.g
narrative performance) and also common affects used.
This example of new media technology is highly important as it is an
easy and comprehensive. If this project was set in the past it would
not be as easy because it wouldn't be as accessible as there
wouldn't be a place to watch multiple videos on demand
5. Youtube was also a tool we used
to publicise our video. As you
can see we gained 326 views in
just over a month which is
impressive for an unsigned
artist. This creates a buzz
around people who knew his and
also new listeners people new to
his music.
6. Digital Camera and Stills
Camera
Camera- I used several cameras to construct my
music video to provide several different angles for
the performance scene. It wasn’t the best quality
camera e.g. HD but it was good enough for the
project.
SLR Camera- I used a SLR camera to take photos
of my artist for my ancillary texts e.g. for the CD
album cover, CD booklet and my magazine advert.
7. Photoshop InDesign
Adobe I used adobe
Photoshop software Adobe
to edit and InDesign CS4- I
manipulate my used InDesign
photos. This was to software to
make my photos create and
more interesting. It is produce my CD

seen.
Final Cut Pro
I used Final Cut Pro
software to create my music
video. I had to use and
develop my editing skills in
order to produce a final
product which was in sync
with the timing and the
lyrics.
8. Mobile Phones and iPod
The use of an iPod was important in the
shooting of the music video. We plugged it into
portable speakers and then played the track so
that we got the timings right and so that Sarz
could rap to it without making mistakes.
Mobile phones where used to contact
Sarz and my other group members to
arrange times to meet for example.
