Editorial Column:
Regards,
Dimple Mehrotra
AKG sailed smoothly through the month of November. This
edition we have highlighted the initiatives taken by children
in every stage of their learning. It was seen during the sports
day where children exhibited sportsmanship and also during
the Creative Challenge event organized by Dubai Cares.
Most psychologist have shown that experiential learning is
an indispensable part of a child's development. As said by
Marie Montessori, "The child can develop fully by means of
experience in his environment. We call such experiences work".
AKG puts this knowledge into work for children by providing
extra care and nurturing environment.
This edition we have also introduced some surprises for our
little children .We have new section of "CHILDREN'S
CORNER ".Through this section we would like to encourage
our children to learn not only at school but guide our parents
to have the learning environment at home too. Thank you
for your support and co-operation as always ....

Its time now for the
ST
GRADE
Transition period is most important when children move between
educational settings .It is recognized that shared vision and shared
understanding of good practices enable seamless transitions.AKG had
a similar transition program held on 1st of November 2014 to ensure
smooth transition of children from KG2 to Grade1. The response from
parents was overwhelming. They seized the opportunity to get familiar
with the school environment and the teaching staff. The activities held
after the orientation projected the good practices adopted by Grade1
teachers.

Sports Day
The Annual sports day of KG1 and KG2 held in the
school campus was fun, challenging, and competitive.
On this day, children had a chance to test their skills
and compete with each other in a variety of games.
The event started with a mass drill of KG2 that
showed the skills of synchronization, with their
colorful pom-poms.
KG1 on the other hand held the bystander look with
amazement at the energetic and uniform display of
their drill. Every child had a sense of uniformity and
harmony that was evident. The team games and
races were exciting and fun filled. The most important
was the cheering among children that demonstrated
their sportsman ship and added more energy to the
day. The audience appreciated yoga demonstration
by children.
The theme of the KG2 games was ‘Our World' and
the KG1 had their races on the theme of ’Growing
and Planting’. In appreciation, the children received
badges and participation certificates.

Creative Challenge Program
AKG opened an creative and artistic window
of our little ones by participating in the
creative challenge event organized by Dubai
cares. On October 15th 2014, Dubai cares
had taken an initiative to encourage children
to exhibit their creativity with a Creative
Challenge in Schools. Children were given
canvases of “#MyDubai” to paint the way
they view Dubai from their own perspectives.
The best-painted canvases were sent to
compete against other students across all
schools. In the spirit of camaraderie, Parents
and children participated in the event thus
providing children in developing countries
access to quality primary education. Thank
you to all parents for the overwhelming
response.
