1. Discuss main components of a research question (this is a
general discussion and you can discuss health system research
of research as a general term)
There are many components of a research question. These
components help you define what your scope and what you are
actually looking for. The main components are:
P- Population-who is your target audience. What is the
population of interest you are researching and what is the
medical diagnosis per se? This could be patients with cancer;
this could be animals as well. Make sure your population is
well defined though and not too broad which can take you off
topic.
I-Intervention/Exposure-What leadership strategy, diagnostic
test or exposures are you interested in. Such as patients who
were exposed to respiratory chemicals in the 9-11 attacks
C-Compare-This would be an alternative option from the one
you used in I/E. This could also be called your control
(Cochrane, n.d.) Does this translate to Efficacy - vs. control or
placebo or comparative efficacy - vs. standard therapy
(Campbell, n.d.)
O-Outcomes-This would be the expected outcome from your
population group.
The goal is to write the research question using all 4 acronyms.
You can also add a timeframe in with your questions such as in
the past 60 days or by doing x in the past 5 years to help narrow
down your research question.

QUESTION. Retrieved August 29, 2016, from

What is Health Services Research? What are the overall goals of
health system research? What are the functions of health
research systems?
Health Services research is the investigation of the use, cost,
delivery and effects of health care treatments or services for
individuals or populations (Dewey, 2011). According to The
World Health Organization, a health research system is the
people, institutions whose primary purpose is to generate high
quality knowledge that can be used to promote, restore and
maintain the health status of populations (WHO). Health service
research asks questions such as How Effective Are
breastfeeding classes for first time mothers or What is the
leading cause of emergency room admissions in Washington
DC? The overall goals of health system research is to discover
answers that will ultimately lead to improvements in health care
outcomes, quality and delivery. The World Health Organization
states the main goals of health research is the advancement of
scientific knowledge and utilization of knowledge to improve
health and health equity (WHO)
The World Health Organization outlines the function of health
research systems with 4 components. The Stewardship function,
financing function, creating and sustaining resources and
producing and using those resources. The Stewardship function
states that the research system should identify appropriate
research priorities and set and monitor ethical standards for
health research. The financing function serves to secure and
allocate research funds. Create and sustain resources and to
produce scientifically validated outputs and inform health
policy, health practice and pubic opinion to promote and
improve health.

HMGT 495· Neema Week # 2 Discussion
Hello Class,
Question 1) How does a health care organization implement a
strategic plan? What guidelines should be followed?
Strategic planning in healthcare is a critical step for successful
operations, expansions, and profitability even though changes
on the way are unpredictable sometimes. With strategic
planning, healthcare managers and other stakeholders will be
able to tackle any changes on the way and still be able to push
to success. And it is very important to remember that strategic
planning in healthcare just like any other organization is an
ongoing process and it covers more than just one area of the
business even though it is for one section at a time. So how to
implement strategic planning in healthcare? The following are
the guidelines that should be followed in implementing strategic
planning:
1. Defining the goal to be achieved. For example, healthcare
organization should have a short term goal or long term goal to
accomplish something, like how to increase the number of
patients at the hospital.
1. When and for how long does it take for that goal to be
achieved. This step will help management not to take too long
in order to accomplish each step of the way so that in case of
any delay will accessed.
1. Write what does is it take in order to reach that goal. Just as
there is no one way to define strategic planning, there is no
single way of doing it, therefore, in these stage management
count down all the costs that will be used to reach the goal.
1. SWOT analysis, which is an assessment of the strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of your practice—is a
staple of strategic planning. This analysis uses a mix of
quantitative and qualitative information, and most of the time
this process should be done as process before and as the
planning is continuing so that to understand the shortages and
how to overcome them.
1. Communicate well to the whole management and making the
plan is well understood for the total execution.

· Kristina week 2
In Healthcare the execution of a strategic plan takes
organization, performance accountability and teamwork, just as
quality care and service takes interdisciplinary professionals at
all levels working together in a spirit of cooperation,
collaboration and team unity with a single-mindedness of
purpose. While effective leadership requires many essential
elements, creating and executing a strategic plan is more
optimal for most healthcare organizations. Strategic plans are
most effective when they become dynamic, working documents
that provide organization, structure and reporting for
organizational planning and business implementation processes.
4 general guidelines that should be followed are:
. Determine Position
. Develop a Strategy
. Build the Plan
. Manage Performance

  • 1. Wk 2 peer response Rules: Please thoroughly respond to post but not too wordy or lengthy. Include reference. HMGT 400· Cheryl Week 2 1. Discuss main components of a research question (this is a general discussion and you can discuss health system research of research as a general term) There are many components of a research question. These components help you define what your scope and what you are actually looking for. The main components are: P- Population-who is your target audience. What is the population of interest you are researching and what is the medical diagnosis per se? This could be patients with cancer; this could be animals as well. Make sure your population is well defined though and not too broad which can take you off topic. I-Intervention/Exposure-What leadership strategy, diagnostic test or exposures are you interested in. Such as patients who were exposed to respiratory chemicals in the 9-11 attacks C-Compare-This would be an alternative option from the one you used in I/E. This could also be called your control (Cochrane, n.d.) Does this translate to Efficacy - vs. control or placebo or comparative efficacy - vs. standard therapy (Campbell, n.d.) O-Outcomes-This would be the expected outcome from your population group. The goal is to write the research question using all 4 acronyms. You can also add a timeframe in with your questions such as in the past 60 days or by doing x in the past 5 years to help narrow down your research question. Campbell, J. (n.d.). What are the overall goals of health system research? What are the functions of health research systems? Health Services research is the investigation of the use, cost, delivery and effects of health care treatments or services for individuals or populations (Dewey, 2011). According to The World Health Organization, a health research system is the people, institutions whose primary purpose is to generate high quality knowledge that can be used to promote, restore and maintain the health status of populations (WHO). Health service research asks questions such as How Effective Are breastfeeding classes for first time mothers or What is the leading cause of emergency room admissions in Washington DC? The overall goals of health system research is to discover answers that will ultimately lead to improvements in health care outcomes, quality and delivery. The World Health Organization states the main goals of health research is the advancement of scientific knowledge and utilization of knowledge to improve health and health equity (WHO) The World Health Organization outlines the function of health research systems with 4 components. The Stewardship function, financing function, creating and sustaining resources and producing and using those resources. The Stewardship function states that the research system should identify appropriate research priorities and set and monitor ethical standards for health research. The financing function serves to secure and allocate research funds. Create and sustain resources and to produce scientifically validated outputs and inform health policy, health practice and pubic opinion to promote and improve health.

What guidelines should be followed? Strategic planning in healthcare is a critical step for successful operations, expansions, and profitability even though changes on the way are unpredictable sometimes. With strategic planning, healthcare managers and other stakeholders will be able to tackle any changes on the way and still be able to push to success. And it is very important to remember that strategic planning in healthcare just like any other organization is an ongoing process and it covers more than just one area of the business even though it is for one section at a time. So how to implement strategic planning in healthcare? The following are the guidelines that should be followed in implementing strategic planning: 1. Defining the goal to be achieved. For example, healthcare organization should have a short term goal or long term goal to accomplish something, like how to increase the number of patients at the hospital. 1. When and for how long does it take for that goal to be achieved. This step will help management not to take too long in order to accomplish each step of the way so that in case of any delay will accessed. 1. Write what does is it take in order to reach that goal. Just as there is no one way to define strategic planning, there is no single way of doing it, therefore, in these stage management

SWOT analysis, which is an assessment of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of your practice—is a staple of strategic planning. This analysis uses a mix of quantitative and qualitative information, and most of the time this process should be done as process before and as the planning is continuing so that to understand the shortages and how to overcome them. 1. Respond to Neema here · Kristina week 2 In Healthcare the execution of a strategic plan takes organization, performance accountability and teamwork, just as quality care and service takes interdisciplinary professionals at all levels working together in a spirit of cooperation, collaboration and team unity with a single-mindedness of purpose. While effective leadership requires many essential elements, creating and executing a strategic plan is more optimal for most healthcare organizations. Strategic plans are most effective when they become dynamic, working documents that provide organization, structure and reporting for organizational planning and business implementation processes. 4 general guidelines that should be followed are: .
