OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
:- To find out the awareness on the subject of the
existent of E-waste in students of professional and
non-professional streams in colleges
:- To find out the awareness on the subject of risk of E-
waste in students of professional and non-
professional streams in colleges
:- To find out the awareness on the subject of E-waste
management in students of professional and non-
professional stream in colleges.

METHODOLOGY
:- Selection of the Subject
:- Collection of Data
The data was collected from the colleges of DU and IP University. Each subject was
contacted individually & informed about the purpose of the study. Necessary with
regard to follow up of questionnaire was imported and questionnaire was distributed.
Questionnaire was categorized into 3 sections. Description of questionnaire has been
designed as under
Section A Questions on the subject of existence of e-waste.(10)
Section B Questions on the subject of danger of e-waste.(10)
Section C Questions on the subject of management of e-waste. (10)

On the basis of the manual, the responses were evaluated and data was collected.

FINDINGS
● There is no significant difference in the awareness on the
subject of existent of E-waste in college students of professional and
non-professional streams. All the students are having awareness of
existent of e-waste.
● There is significant difference in the awareness on the
subject of Risk of E-waste in college students of professional stream
with their non-professional counterparts. The students of
professional stream are having more awareness of Risk of e-waste
than the students of non-professional stream.
● There is no significant difference in the awareness on the
subject of E-waste management in college students of professional
and non-professional streams. All the students are unaware of
proper e-waste management.

CONCLUSION
On the behalf of the results of the study it is state that the
awareness on the subject of the risk and management of e-waste
are extremely low and urgent measures are required to consider
this issue.
Being a responsible citizen we should play a role in e-waste
management as donating electronics items for reuse, which extends
the lives of valuable products and keep them out of the waste
management system for a long time.
When buying electronic products, always try for those that
are made with less toxic constituents, use recycled content, are
energy efficient, and are designed for easy upgrading or
disassembly.

Monitors 10% Television 10% Computers. Televisions, Fax, printers, etc. 15% DVD/VCR player, CD Player, Radio etc 15% Refrigerators 20% Washing Machine, Dryers, AC, Vaccume cleaners etc 30%
  • 3. RTIE 2015 TYPES OF E-WASTE :-- White goods: Household appliances. :-- Brown goods: TVs, camcorders, Cameras :-- Grey Goods: Computers, printers, fax machines, Scanners etc HARMFUL METHOD OF DISMENTLE OF E-WASTE

RTIE 2015 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY :- To find out the awareness on the subject of the existent of E-waste in students of professional and non-professional streams in colleges :- To find out the awareness on the subject of risk of E- waste in students of professional and non- professional streams in colleges :- To find out the awareness on the subject of E-waste management in students of professional and non- professional stream in colleges.
  • 6. RTIE 2015 METHODOLOGY :- Selection of the Subject :- Collection of Data The data was collected from the colleges of DU and IP University. Each subject was contacted individually & informed about the purpose of the study. Necessary with regard to follow up of questionnaire was imported and questionnaire was distributed. Questionnaire was categorized into 3 sections. Description of questionnaire has been designed as under Section A Questions on the subject of existence of e-waste.(10) Section B Questions on the subject of danger of e-waste.(10) Section C Questions on the subject of management of e-waste. (10) Total (120) PROFESSIONAL(60) NON- PROFESSIONAL (60) On the basis of the manual, the responses were evaluated and data was collected. :-- Mean :-- SD :-- t-tests STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES

  • 11. RTIE 2015 FINDINGS ● There is no significant difference in the awareness on the subject of existent of E-waste in college students of professional and non-professional streams. All the students are having awareness of existent of e-waste. ● There is significant difference in the awareness on the subject of Risk of E-waste in college students of professional stream with their non-professional counterparts. The students of professional stream are having more awareness of Risk of e-waste than the students of non-professional stream. ● There is no significant difference in the awareness on the subject of E-waste management in college students of professional and non-professional streams. All the students are unaware of proper e-waste management.
  • 12. RTIE 2015 CONCLUSION On the behalf of the results of the study it is state that the awareness on the subject of the risk and management of e-waste are extremely low and urgent measures are required to consider this issue. Being a responsible citizen we should play a role in e-waste management as donating electronics items for reuse, which extends the lives of valuable products and keep them out of the waste management system for a long time. When buying electronic products, always try for those that are made with less toxic constituents, use recycled content, are energy efficient, and are designed for easy upgrading or disassembly.
