Moving to the cloud provides several benefits for Roamtech including reduced costs, increased flexibility, and improved productivity. However, there are also risks such as security, availability, and integration challenges. A cost-benefit analysis shows potential savings in hardware, electricity, and maintenance costs by migrating services to the cloud, though there would also be one-time costs for integration and testing. Overall, cloud migration could save the company approximately 70,000 per month while improving service delivery and innovation.

Cloud business case
1. MIGRATION TO CLOUD TECHNICAL BUSINESS CASE
Executive Summary
Important considerations to be made when considering cloud migration include cost and
flexibility trade-offs, along with concerns about security, privacy and availability. The company
will need to make judgments about its unique set of services delivered in differing ways.
Considerations of incorporating the cloud involves a critical task of reviewing a company's
core strengths, constraints and objectives to determine the most appropriate cloud mobilization
plans.
In Roamtech's case we have obligations to our vendors under support agreements. Any current
downtimes is a loss to us and our clients and their trust towards us. Perhaps the most
concerning constraint involves the unknowns, such as a service that is up and running but
suddenly fails unexpectedly.
Probable foreseeable problems for using the current set up include but not limited to:
Increasing annual system cost because of inefficiencies
• Value of information lost or compromised as a result of network outages.
• Lose of a deal which required 100% uptime
• Customer dissatisfaction
• Loss of competitiveness due to lack of innovation
• Loss in worker productivity
• Management distraction
So, Why Migrate to the Cloud?
Moving to the cloud is vital for achieving real-time, updated performance and efficiency. By
taking the proactive role of moving workloads to the cloud, the business can reduce costs,
increase management control and build a strategy for continuing productivity improvements,
this goes a long way to motivate technical employees to innovate instead of spending time
fixing problems emanating from connectivity issues. Deploying solutions, upgrades time will
improve immensely since we have total control of our infrastructure 24/7.
Saving money on data center hardware may be the most visible advantage of moving to the
cloud, but it is certainly not the only benefit. The cloud represents a vital shift in computing.
Although the cloud provides cost savings and productivity improvements, the bigger impact is
a different way of approaching computing and saving the company's image in terms of service
delivery.

The highlighted areas represent areas where we will incur costs though, security is an issue
that can be addressed by picking the right cloud service and technical capability.
I have extensive knowledge of information security for both local and cloud services, one which
I can put in to secure our services.
Integration and testing is a cost we have to go through, the only advantage is that it is a one
time expense in terms of resource since staff will have to work non peak hours to move
services. Option 2 will be to keep current services running while migrating and testing and
doing an immediate cut-over once we are sure of uninterrupted services.
SLA provisions for cloud based on the communications we have had is 99.99%.
I have made communications with Safaricom in regards to cloud connectivity and they have a
secure connection in place to support clients connecting to them from cloud services, thus no
need for a p2p connection from them.
Current running costs for maintaining local servers is Approx.210,000/= per month
Expected/Estimated costs is Approx 140,682.6/= per month
