5. BADMINTON (BWF)
Is a racquet sport played by either two opposing players (singles) or two
opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite halves of a
rectangular court divided by a net.
6. BASKETBALL (FIBA)
Is a sport played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court. The
objective is to shoot a ball through a hoop 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter
and 10 feet (3.0 m) high mounted to a backboard at each end. Basketball
is one of the world's most popular and widely viewed sports.
7. HANDBALL (IHF)
Is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outfield players
and a goalkeeper on each team) pass a ball to throw it into the goal of the
other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the
team that scores more goals wins.
8. BOXING (AIBA)
Is a combat sport in which two people engage in a contest of strength, speed,
reflexes, endurance, and will, by throwing punches with gloved hands against
each other.
9. FENCING (FIE)
Is the activity of fighting with blades. The most common version of
fencing today, also called olympic fencing or competitive fencing, is
divided into three weapon categories: foil, sabre and épée. Classical
fencing uses the same three weapons, but approaches fencing as a
martial art
10. RIDING(FEI)
This broad description includes the use of horses for practical working
purposes, transportation, recreational activities, artistic or cultural
exercises, and competitive sport.
11. FOOTBALL(FIFA)
Refers to a number of sports that involve, to varying
degrees, kicking a ball with the foot to score a goal.
12. WEIGHT-LIFTUNG(IWF)
Is an athletic discipline in the modern Olympic programme in
which the athlete attempts a maximum-weight single lift of
a barbell loaded with weight plates.
13. FIELD-HOCKEY(FIH)
Is a team sport of the hockey family. The game can be played on a grass field or
a turf field. The game of field hockey is played between two teams of eleven
players including the goalie. Short sticks made out of wood or fiber glass are
used to hit a round, hard, rubber like ball.
14. JUDO(IJF)
The objective is to either throw or takedon an opponent to the ground,
immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin or force an
opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke.
15. COMBAT (FILA)
Is a competitive contact sport with one-on-one combat.
Determining the winner depends on the particular contest's
rules.
22. SHOOTING SPORT (ISSF)
Is a competitive sport involving tests of proficiency (accuracy and speed)
using various types of guns such as firearms and airguns (see archery for
more information on shooting sports that make use of bows and arrows).

It refers to using sailboats for sporting purposes. It can be recreational or
competitive.

26. BMX
Is a cycle sport performed on BMX bikes, either in competitive BMX
racing orfreestyle BMX, or else in general on- or off-road recreation. BMX began
when young cyclists appropriatedmotocross tracks for fun, racing and stunts,
eventually evolving specialized BMX bikes and competitions.
27. MOUNTAIN BIKING
Is the sport of riding bicycles off-road, often over rough terrain, using
specially designed mountain bikes.

Is a water based sport governed by the Fédération Internationale de
Natation.
32. SYNCHRONIZED SWIMING
Is a hybrid form of swimming, dance and gymnastics, consisting of swimmers (either
solos, duets, trios, combos, or teams) performing a synchronized routine of elaborate
moves in the water, accompanied by music.
33. DIVING
Is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard,
sometimes while performingacrobatics. Diving is an internationally-recognized
sport that is part of the Olympic Games.
34. WATER POLO
Is a team water sport. The game consists of 4 quarters (or periods) in which the two
teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into their opposition's goal, with the
team that scores the most goals winning the game.
37. ARTISTIC GIMNASTIC
Is a discipline of gymnastics where gymnasts perform short routines (ranging from
approximately 30 to 90 seconds) on different apparatus, with less time for vaulting (see
lists below)
38. RHYTHMIC GIMNASTICS
Is an activity in which individuals or teams of 5 manipulate one or two pieces
of apparatus: clubs, hoop, ball, ribbon, rope and Free (no apparatus)

Is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net.
41. BEACH VOLLEYBALL
Is a team sport played by two teams of two players on a sand court divided by
a net.
