2. Looking back at the preliminary task, what do you feel
you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
From the preliminary task to the final product I feel that a lot of things have improved, I feel that my planning
skills have improved. I think this because my first plans were very simplistic and rushed, but my second set of
plans for my actual product took me time and effort and I feel look a lot better than my first set for the
preliminary task. And as it turns out I didn’t even plan my preliminary task front cover, which I think shows. As
you can see my main product plans look a lot better than my first preliminary plan, I had also planned for
everything. I have learned that everything needs thorough planning and research.

3. Something else that I have learnt is how to use Photoshop properly and how important the aesthetics of the
magazine are, just little things like putting a drop shadow or a stroke on a font can make all the difference from it
looking good and it looking alright. I have also learned that you need to take good picture, with good lighting and
in good focus or it all just looks wrong and does not give the professional effect that you are looking for. I learned
that you also need to plan the location of your photographs properly as from my preliminary task I did not plan
that and I found it hard to make the font noticeable with all the things that were going on in the background.
As you can see from the pictures below, planning makes a it of difference, as I have planned the colours of the final
product and where I was going to put the cover lines whereas on the preliminary task I did not. I also feel like the
amount of research I did aided with the improvement from the preliminary task to the final product. I feel the
planning has made me properly think about my magazine, and I have learned that without research on everything
about a magazine then it will just not look good. I have learned that you need to put time and care into every
aspect of planning and research to make a good final product.
