Dental Center
Being the leader dental clinic in Costa Rica with the best
technology, we offer and deliver an excellent service to
maintain close professional relationship with our patients
providing excellent medical care.
Our dental center was established in San Jose, Costa Rica
in 1999 to help satisfy the increasing demand for expertise
in various fields of dentistry. New Smile Dental Group has
continued to grow, now including prominent practitioners
among its members.
Vision
Our objective is to help you rediscover the pleasure of smil-
ing again.
Our professional staff is very experienced and accredited,
and practices according to the strict protocols of the Ameri-
can Dental Association (ADA). Our Unit of Cosmetic Den-
tistry and Unit of Dental Implants are working as a team, in
order to provide the best dental treatment solutions.

International and local accreditations
New Smile Dental Group was the first dental
center in Costa Rica internationally accredi-
ted by The American Association for Accre-
ditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc.
(AAAASF) in 2009. On 2010, AAAASF inspec-
ted and accredited our new dental facilities.
The American Association for Accredita-
tion of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc.
(AAAASF) was established in 1980. Its primary
mission is to ensure the highest quality pa-
tient care in the ambulatory surgery setting.
Today, with more than 1100 accredited out-
patient surgical facilities, the not-for-profit
AAAASF is the largest accrediting organiza-
tion of its kind in the nation.
On 2010, we received the Seal of Quality
from the Council for the International Pro-
motion of Costa Rica Medicine (PROMED).
The Seal of Quality helps foreign patients to
identify those healthcare and tourist provi-
ders that offer excellent, verifiable and com-
parable quality services. The PROMED seal of
guarantee becomes the entry door to the
quality of healthcare in Costa Rica in the
most transparent, independent and recog-
nizable way.
Founded in 1859, the American Dental As-
sociation (ADA) is the oldest and largest
national dental society in the world. Since
then, the ADA has grown to become the
leading source of oral health related infor-
mation for dentists and their patients.
Founded in 1951, the American Academy
of Implant Dentistry (AAID) is the first profes-
sional organization in the world dedicated
to implant dentistry. Its membership includes
general dentists, oral and maxillofacial sur-
geons, periodontists, prosthodontists and
others interested in the field of implant den-
tistry. As a membership organization, AAID
currently represents over 3,500 dentists
worldwide.

The International Congress of Oral Implanto-
logists (ICOI) was founded in 1972. Devoted
to providing implant education to the entire
dental team to better serve its patients, the
ICOI is not only the world’s largest dental im-
plant organization, but it is also the world’s
largest provider of continuing dental implant
education.
Costa Rica’s National Tourism Chamber
(CANATUR). CANATUR is the leading entity
of Costa Rican business organizations that
brings together the highest hierarchy of the
chambers and associations of the country’s
private tourism sector, whose members re-
present the national tourism industry.
The College of Dental Surgeons of Costa
Rica is a corporation with ethics and social
responsibility, consisting of all professionals in
dentistry in the country, which encourages
continued education and oversees and mo-
nitors the performance of the dental profes-
sion.
Council for the International Promotion of
Costa Rica Medicine (PROMED). The Council
for the International Promotion of Costa Rica
Medicine PROMED is the private not-for-pro-
fit organization that coordinates the efforts
carried out to ensure the quality of services
provided by the private health industry in
Costa Rica and their international promo-
tion, with the intention of consolidating the
country as a center for global medicine
and a major destination for medical tourism.
THE CODE, code of conduct for the protec-
tion of children from sexual exploitation in
travel and tourism, an industry driven respon-
sible tourism initiative in collaboration with
ECPAT International, funded by UNICEF and
supported by the UNWTO.

Dr. Mario Bonilla, our Chief Dentist, over-
sees a team of six highly credentialed
dentists. This experienced team of pro-
fessionals is constantly improving its
knowledge and skills by attending va-
rious seminars and courses throughout
the year. This constant continuing edu-
cation provides our patients with the
most current and cutting edge dental treatment.
Our dental assistants perform a variety
of important functions in our office. Their
primary responsibility is to ensure our pa-
tients are comfortable in the dental chair
and to assist the dentist during their pro-
cedure. They also assist with office and
laboratory duties.
We have our own on-site laboratory with
seven experienced dental technicians
that create crowns, bridges, dentures
and other dental prosthetics for our den-
tists. Our Chief Lab Technician is a true ar-
tist who specializes in porcelain and metal
crowns for dental implants.
Your first contact at New Smile Dental
Group will be with one of our Dental Ad-
visors. Their vast dental knowledge comes
from additional classroom training as well
as from our team of dentists who provide
training on the latest dental implant tech-
niques, crowns, bridges and overall den-
tal aesthetics.
Our Administration and Logistics de-
partment is a group of professionals that
provide our patients with the best possi-
ble service during their stay in Costa Rica.
They handle transportation services at
arrival, departure and for the patient’s
dental appointments. They also assist with
lodging, payment and any other services
the patient might need.
