1. Matthew 9:14-17
• Then the disciples of John came to Him,
saying, ’Why do we and the Pharisees
fast often, but Your disciples do not
fast?’ And Jesus said to them, ‘Can the
friends of the bridegroom mourn as
long as the bridegroom is with them?
But the days will come when the
bridegroom will be taken away from
them, and then they will fast.

• No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth
on an old garment; for the patch pulls
away from the garment, and the tear is
made worse. Nor do they put new wine
into old wineskins, or else the wineskins
break, the wine is spilled, and the
wineskins are ruined. But they put new
wine into new wineskins, and both are
preserved.

a. Wedding banquet is a time of
feasting and having merry.
* Matthew 9:15 ‘Can the friends of
the bridegroom mourn as long as
the bridegroom is with them?’

of new mindset or paradigm shift
in our thinking and doing thing.
• Matthew 9:17 ‘But they put new
wine into new wineskins, and both
are preserved.’

* John 5:39 ‘ You search the Scriptures,
for in them you think you have
eternal life; and these are they which
testify of Me.

b. Fasting without purpose and focus
serves nothing.
• Isaiah 58:3 ‘Why have we fasted,
they say, and You have not seen?
Why have we afflicted our souls,
and You take no notice?’

c. The priority is to hear God’s voice
and ready to respond to it.
• Zechariah 7:13 ‘Therefore it
happened, that just as He
proclaimed and they would not
hear, so they called out and I would
not listen,’ says the LORD of hosts.

• 2 Chronicles 7:14
‘If My people who are called by My
name will humble themselves, and
pray and seek My face, and turn
from their wicked ways, then I will
hear from heaven, and will forgive
their sin and heal their land.

• Fasting is an integral part of our
relationship and ministry unto
God.

does not go out except by prayer
and fasting.’

answer and solution to our
situation?
