EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
Educational technology ,sometimes shortened to Edu Tech/ Ed Tech is a wide
field. Educational technology as practice refers to any form of teaching and
learning that makes use of technology .
• Technology means systematic application of scientific knowledge to practical
tasks . Therefore , educational technology is based on theoretical knowledge
drawn from different disciplines( communication ,education ,psychology,
sociology , philosophy, computer science ,etc.)plus experiential knowledge
drawn from educational practice.
• Educational technology aims to improve education. Technology should facilitate
learning processes and increase performance of the educational system(s)as it
regards to effectiveness and /or efficiency.
• Educational technology refers to the use of tools, technologies,
processes procedure, Resources and strategies to improve learning
experiences in a variety of settings, such as ;
formal learning
informal learning
non-formal learning
life long learning
learning on demand
work place learning
just- in-time learning
•Educational technology is the use of
technology to improve education .It is a
systematic ,iterative process for designing
instruction or training used to improve
performance . Educational technology is
sometimes also known as instructional
technology or learning technology.
•As of 2019 ,e-learning has been replaced by
the word “digital learning” or sometimes ed
Tech .Although the term “digital learning” is
more open to the idea that technology has
become a general omnipresent tool. i.e.
encompasses any sort of technology use in
education.
DIFFERENT
TYPES OF
EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY
Educational technology includes numerous types of
media that deliver text ,audio ,images ,animation ,and
streaming video, include technology applications
and processes such as audio or video tape, satellite
tv,CD-ROM,computer based learning and web based
learning.
SYNCHRONOUS &ASYNCHRONOUS
• Learning can occur in or out of the classroom.
• It can be self-paced , asynchronous learning or may be instructor-led ,synchronous learning
• Synchronous learning occurs in real time, with all participants interacting at the same time.
• Asynchronous learning is self paced and allows participants to engage in the exchange of ideas , or
information without the dependency of other participants involvement at the same time.
• Synchronous learning helps students create an open mind because they have to listen and learn from
their peers.
• Asynchronous learning use technologies like email, blogs, social net working, audio , video, etc.
LINEAR LEARNING
• Computer based training(CBT) refers to self-paced learning activities delivered
on a computer
• CBT is conceptually similar to web- based training(WBT) which are delivered
via internet using web browser.
• CBT can be good alternative to printed learning materials, including videos,and
animations can be embedded to enhance the learning.
COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
• Computer supported collaborative learning (CSCL)uses instructional methods
designed to encourage or require students to work together on learning tasks.
• It is similar to e-learning.

  • 7. •As of 2019 ,e-learning has been replaced by the word “digital learning” or sometimes ed Tech .Although the term “digital learning” is more open to the idea that technology has become a general omnipresent tool. i.e. encompasses any sort of technology use in education.
  • 9. Educational technology includes numerous types of media that deliver text ,audio ,images ,animation ,and streaming video, include technology applications and processes such as audio or video tape, satellite tv,CD-ROM,computer based learning and web based learning.

SYNCHRONOUS &ASYNCHRONOUS • Learning can occur in or out of the classroom. • It can be self-paced , asynchronous learning or may be instructor-led ,synchronous learning • Synchronous learning occurs in real time, with all participants interacting at the same time. • Asynchronous learning is self paced and allows participants to engage in the exchange of ideas , or information without the dependency of other participants involvement at the same time. • Synchronous learning helps students create an open mind because they have to listen and learn from their peers. • Asynchronous learning use technologies like email, blogs, social net working, audio , video, etc.

LINEAR LEARNING • Computer based training(CBT) refers to self-paced learning activities delivered on a computer • CBT is conceptually similar to web- based training(WBT) which are delivered via internet using web browser. • CBT can be good alternative to printed learning materials, including videos,and animations can be embedded to enhance the learning.
  • 12. COLLABORATIVE LEARNING • Computer supported collaborative learning (CSCL)uses instructional methods designed to encourage or require students to work together on learning tasks. • It is similar to e-learning.
