PEC, a government organization, imported non-GMO corn to meet demand. In December 2015, PEC expressed interest in importing 5 lakh metric tons of non-GMO corn and recently completed a tender for 240,000 metric tons from Ukraine. The first shipment arrived at an Indian seaport in March. The import will affect agricultural and commercial markets through increased competition and potential price impacts. Concerns include ensuring the corn is truly non-GMO and whether imported seeds could be used in India.

corn
4. Future Perspective
5. Market Competition

Its being seen as an startup of seasonal
maize crops in India.
From ongoing months the imported maize

direct competition with domestic agri market.
Future view of volatile market can be
observed.
By products demand and supply will gets
more affected.
4. Effects on agricultural Sector
All industries till dates were directly dependent on
domestic agri market, but if this imported maize
succeeds in a way than there may be more
fluctuations can arise in the market.
As per govts. strict norms and with the foreign
assurance to provide over 100% or 99% non GM
crops, It may possible that somehow there may be
GM based seeds may come because the order is
little bit flowing by various hands as per the
production areas in foreign are concerned.
It is also a matter of suspect for the possibility of
GM corn because two big countries(China &
Russia) which have recently prohibited GM based
agriculture, are illegally attached with this
productions as per international reports.

Cons: There is a huge possibility that the imported
maize may be taken as seed to grow in some part of
India. If it have at least 1% of Genetically modified
seed than It will unconditionally harm the land
system or cause material injury..
Production will affect and all industries associated
also gets hard operations.

material, so market competition is obvious.

pricing and adoption by industries there is
definitely competition will be observed
