2. Environmental problems
Every year in Italy,
due to fires, hectares
of forest are
destroyed,
consequently oxygen
reduces and animals
die. If you want to
report a forest fire,
please call 1515 the
State Forestry Corps.
3. The deforestation is the
removal of trees that is not
accompanied by a sufficient
regeneration.
The deforestation increase
CO2 in the atmosphere and
causes the greenhouse effect
and the global warming. The
negative effects of
deforestation are numerous
and include also
desertification in dry areas,
erosion, landslides and
mudslides in the rainy and
hilly areas and contamination
of aquatic systems (due to the
leaching of water).
4. Herbicides, insecticides,
fertilizers, waste and industrial
waste, if they are not
biologically degradable, remain
in the ground. These substances
are generally toxic and change
the soil. They can also enter the
human food chain as well as
polluting the groundwater. The
effects of this pollution may
occur even after many years.
These substances pollute the soil
and the agricultural products,
ingested by animals and,
transported by waters and
rivers, reach the sea and are also
ingested by fish, contaminating
the entire food chain.
