Question 4
1. Question 4 Who would be the audience for your media product
2. My media product was a country music magazine, which i had researched into, developed ideas and produced myself. Throughout the production of my magazine I had to bear in mind my targeted audience
3. Initial audience Originally, from my research and planning i had decided that my targeted audience would be: I want my magazine to be able to be enjoyed and read by a wide aged audience, which all share the passion of country music. As most current country magazines are aimed mainly for the enjoyment of the older generation, i wish to create a magazine, which will appeal to the mainly younger age groups 16+, a magazine which they will not be embarrassed to pick up and read in front of their friends. However, as i have found from research, talking to a lot of people about country music, there is still a large audience of the older generation that enjoy country music, so i will continue to keep the traditional country style of props, clothing, famous country musicians and mise-en-scene, simply update and modernise my magazine to become bolder and more colourful, including reviews and information on country music for the older generation and more interviews, with the likes of Taylor swift, an extremely popular country pop musician, for the younger generation. By doing this my magazine is mainly appealing to the younger generation as it will consist of mainly country pop not traditionally country music, but by keeping the reviews and the traditional style it gives the opportunity to be enjoyed by the older generation also.My magazine will be aimed at mainly Aspirers, for the younger generation and then the smaller audience of underachievers, with the exception of a few succeeders for the older generation. They will be post-modernists with the attitude of aspiring "to have, to be and to play". They dream for the best and work hard in life for what they have and what they want. As they are most likely to be students at the age of 16+ i would say they are currently an E on the jicnar scale, but aiming to be a C1 maybe even B and become the likes of a teacher.
5. Age and Gender Originally in the research and planning I wanted my magazine to be aimed at both genres and a wide age group audience. However, when producing my magazine I found that it would be very hard to please such a wide audience so narrowed my audience down to females and mainly aimed it at a younger audience, but could be enjoyed from a wide age range of 16-40 year olds as it is suitable for them also.
6. Jincar scale As I have created a magazine for mainly the younger generation i would say that they are still students so will be fairly low on the Jincar scale and will currently be an E. However I perceive my audience to be aiming to reach for around a B in the future, becoming the likes of a teacher.
7. Social values Although my genre of music magazine is commonly stereotyped to be associated with the traditionalists, o a country person who keeps things how they are and passes the family farming business down through generations, this is not the case for my magazine as it is aimed to challenge the ideology that country music is only suited for country people. There are many people especially young people who are fans of country genre nowadays, especially country pop, with popular artists such as Taylor swift. Because of this I would say that my targeted audience would be post-modernists with the attitude of aspiring "to have, to be and to play". They dream for the best and work hard in life for what they have and what they want.In general they just like to have fun but realise that at there are some points in life where you have to put the work in in-order to be able to enjoy life.
9. They perceive themselves to be... I think my audience would mainly be aspirers as they are mainly still students so haven’t really achieved much in life at the moment, but are looking to do well in life and progress as a person and up the social scale.
10. Define my reader as... You shop in the likes of Primark, new lookand Dorothy Perkins. You go for the natural look, by not plastering on the make-up, just some blusher and mascara Introvert rather than extrovert Have a part-time job Have hardly and piercings Prefer a night in with the friends and ice-cream rather than a messy night out Watch the soaps and programmes like one tree hill
