Prior to establishing her consulting practice, Ms. Joachim was a participant in the genesis of the mar-
keting department at PLATINUM Technology, a software provider of enterprise products. While at
PLATINUM, Ms. Joachim directed dozens of successful international and domestic initiatives,
managed outside agencies, and supervised a staff of thirty people. As a former Senior Analyst at
Covia, now Galileo International, she worked with the group that developed airline reservation
products deployed to thousands of customers worldwide. Ms. Joachim began her career at a soft-
ware provider of computerized language translation products, Weidner Communications, where she
was an account executive for the company’s governmental and corporate clients.

Ms. Joachim is a frequent contributor to the American Marketing Association’s Marketing News
publication. Her industry awards for marketing and communications include the prestigious Business
Week and Marketing Computers Gold Icon Award, and several Society for Technical Communica-
tions awards.

Ms. Joachim has had extensive international experience, specifically in the Middle East and North
Africa, and with corporations entering the emerging China market. Academic credentials and
awards include: M.A. from the University of Michigan in Near Eastern Studies (Arabic); Bachelor of
Arts degree from Oakland University in English; a National Defense Language Fellowship for study at
the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; and two U.S. Office of Education fellowships for study
abroad at the American University in Cairo, Egypt, and in Tunisia.

A global media company, initially a startup, used Ann Joachim Associates to develop its brand image

Branding a Private/Public Partnership

A global technology company engaged Ann Joachim Associates to conduct qualitative and

company to define the survey topics, design the specific survey questionnaires, program them so

puter system to distribute leads to its sales force. This would signifi-
cantly affect the way thousands of employees in the United States work. Realizing these initiatives
face an 80% failure rate, the firm wanted a communications plan that would prepare the sales force.
The firm used Ann Joachim Associates to interview a sample of sales reps to determine the chal-
lenges, possible barriers to success, and best ways to communicate the new system to sales.
A report was produced, detailing issues and steps forward. Ann prepared a communication plan with
recommended strategies and tactics. The implementation of the new system has been so successful
that it is now used as a standard case study at nationwide conferences.



Honing Sales and Presentation Skills within a Technology Company
A global provider of technology services sought to develop and refine the presentation skills of its
product support representatives. Ann Joachim Associates developed and delivered training in public
speaking for 25 employees. The full-day training program included: a lecture on best practices in
public speaking; a humorous sketch on the least effective ways to use PowerPoint; a brand new slide
presentation the reps used for practice; and videotaping and critiquing each person as they
