2. Prepare The Surface
Once you've selected the space for your
chalkboard, clean the surface completely and
repair any protruding nails or other
imperfections. Some surfaces may require a
primer or additional preparation
3. Tape Off the Area to Be
Painted

4. Apply the Chalkboard
Paint
Using a brush or roller, apply the chalkboard
paint within the taped-off area. For best results,
use a Benjamin Moore custom-blended
nylon/polyester brush or short-nap roller
5. Ensure Lasting
Durability
For best Chalk Board Paint results, allow the
painted area to cure for 3 days before using it
as a chalkboard. Then, prior to initial use, rub
the entire surface with a piece of white chalk.
6. Using Chalkboard Paint
Use decorative molding or a colorful painted
border to give your chalkboard area an extra
personal touch.
7. Hold Your Chalk
In children's rooms, be sure to make your
chalkboard low and large enough so that
younger children can reach it and have ample

12. Prep the Wall for
Painting
Relocate any appliances. Remove the shoe
mold and baseboard carefully from the wall
that is being painted. Remove the nails and
store it in a safe place for reinstallation later in
the day.
13. Cut In Using a
Paintbrush
Pour the latex chalkboard paint into a small
container to be used to cut in around the
window trim, ceiling corners and wall edges.
Apply two coats of edging paint and corner
details. Two coats will be matched with two
coats of rolled paint on the walls.
