2. www.abcya.com
• This is a free website that is extremely easy to access,
very engaging for students, designed to be used at home
or in the classroom.
• This app provides games and quizzes for 6 primary
grades (Kindergarten- 5th grade)
• This website targets all subject areas. There are fun apps
for reading, math, social studies, science, holidays and a
section of just for fun games!
3. Rationale
• This app is useful for teachers who teach a range of
primary grade levels. It is designed with different tabs for
each grade, all on one easy menu.
• Some of the games track the progress of the student. It
gives a percentage score at the end of the game/quiz.
• It requires no Login or password so a child can easily
access the information.
• There are also some apple apps designed to reflect some
of the games on the website.
4. Basics
• abcya.com is FREE!
• The author of abcya.com is an Integrated Technology
Teacher in a public school district in Connecticut.
• The website’s menu page has 6 different circles to access
the specific grade level and the games are organized by
subject area.
• The games are interactive and engaging. Most of the
games provide a score once the child has completed the
game. Each game states the directions orally and there
are fun sounds and music to keep the child invested.
5. Benefits
• This website has been extremely useful for my younger
students with learning disabilities.
• One of my students has fine motor skill struggles, therefore he
can not prove mastery through any writing. This website allows
him to prove mastery by clicking.
• Another one of my students has a much easier time staying
engaged on a technology device rather than a paper pencil
activity so this has been a way to help her complete an activity
without getting off task.
• This website can benefit students with fine motor skill
struggles, auditory learners, musical learners, and learning
disabled students.
6. Constrains
• I would change the fact that not all of the games give a
score at the end. I wish all the quizzes were designed to
track progress.
• I also think one thing that would enhance the website is if
a user had a login and the app tracked what quizzes the
user has taken, and tracked their progress if they re-took
the quiz.
• Another way to benefit this website is if a teacher had a
separate login to track all students progress.
8. Questions
• What are different ways besides independent practice this
website can be used, and what are the benefits of each
one?
• What are some ways this app could be changed to better
assist a student in your classroom? Why?
