Rice and noodles is the basic diet in China.
At family meals, everyone simply has a bowl of
rice and noodles and then adds vegetables and
meat.
6. Festive treat
Rice dumplings called Zongzi are eaten during the
Dragon Boat Festival to remember Qu Yuan a
Chinese poet.
7. Peking Duck
Peking Duck is a popular dish in Beijing.
It became popular in the 1860s. A large platter
of warm, crispy roast duck would be put in the middle
of the table. Then family members would serve
themselves.
8. Cantonese cooking
Cantonese cooking is famous for its bite size dishes
Called dim sum which means “touch the heart.”
Most dim sum dishes are filled with shrimp, meat, or
vegetables.
