  CAUSES: Taking in more calories than one uses
  • Oversized food portions
  • Lack of access to healthy foods
  • Lack of physical activity
  • Genes and family history
  • Hormonal imbalance,
   medications, pregnancy,
   emotional factors
 SIGN AND SYMPTOMS:•

    • The scale showing you have gained weight
    • Have extra fat around the waist
    • Thickness around the midsection
    • Large body frame.
    • Difficulty in doing daily activities.
    • Lethargy.
    • Breathlessness.
    • Increased weight.
Complications of obesity
Anorexia nervosa
SIGN AND SYMPTOMS:
 Extremely thin
 Rapid loss of weight
 Loss of menstrual periods
 Exercise excessively
 Exhibiting ritualistic eating behaviors
 Weakness due to malnutrition
 Social withdrwal, depression
 Complaints of nausea, or constipation after eating normal
  amounts of food

   SIGN ANG SYMPTOMS:
   Binge eating of high-carbohydrate foods, usually in secret
   Exercising for hours
   Eating until painfully full
   Going to the bathroom during meals
   Loss of control over eating, with guilt and shame
   Body weight that goes up and down
   Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, gas, abdominal pain
   Dehydration
   Missed periods or lack of menstrual periods
   Damaged tooth enamel
   Bad breath
   Sore throat or mouth sores
   Depression

Behavioral symptoms of binge eating and compulsive overeating
 Inability to stop eating or control what you’re eating
 Rapidly eating large amounts of food
 Eating even when you’re full
 Hiding or stockpiling food to eat later in secret
 Eating normally around others, but gorging when you’re alone
 Eating continuously throughout the day, with no planned mealtimes
Emotional symptoms of binge eating and compulsive overeating

   Eating habits should independent of emotions.
   Include fruits and vegetables in diet.
   Balance the menu with low fat and high fat foods.
   Avoid junk food.
   Enjoy salad buffets.
