Moving forward
Teaching and Learning

CIP Objective 2a:
All staff confident in planning and delivering
a good or outstanding lesson in order to
achieve 100% good or outstanding teaching
under September 2012 Ofsted criteria.

Found at S:CIP
Recent research on effect of
                      practice
• Currently all teachers slow, and most actually stop,
improving after two or three years in the classroom

• Expertise research therefore suggests that they are only
beginning to scratch the surface of what we are capable
  of

• There is no limit to what we can achieve if we support
teachers in the right way. What is the right way?
Where have we come from?

• Swanmore Seven
• CPL Sessions
• Leading learning for others
• Personalised CPL
• Created T&L Newsletters, Blog etc.
• Top Tips
• QA Systems in place
How do we become a
     Learning Centred
         School?

Not because we are not good
 enough because we can be
          better!
Intentions

Creating a visible T&L Vision
Teaching and Learning
                    Fortnight
Objective

To share good practices of teaching and
learning across the college.

How to leave a boring class in style
Why are we doing this?

                              Seeing others
                              teaching in other
                              subject areas

Learning and Teaching
            Fortnight
When?
4th February – 14th February 2013
•During a non contact lesson you and a
colleague will make 2 x 20 minute visits to
another class to observe another teach.
•Between the lessons and afterwards you
and the other observer will discuss key
points.
How?
• Names/ schedule will be published in
January of who is observing who.

• Intention is that both Monday meetings
over these two weeks will be cancelled
to allow quality time to reflect and
  feedback.
Where?
• Feedback in staff room with biscuits
  and tea provided on:

Tuesday, Wednesday (1st week.)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (2nd week)
PLEASE NOTE
This is nothing to do with Performance
Management – it is purely a tool to share
the very best of practice.

No gradings will be given.

Any observation notes belong to the
observed.
And finally
• This is to share the very best of
practice and to allow us to be more
  confident when observers walk in.

• This may be your ideal opportunity to
showcase some work you have been
  doing and take that risk!

You will get out of this what you put in.

  1. What we need is to persuade those with a real passion for working with young people to become teachers, and to continue to improve as long as they stay in the job.
