This document is a project report submitted by Ashita Laddha for their second year of an Interior Design degree. It outlines the design of a pendant light for a commercial space using a contemporary style. While studying lightning design, I had learnt about lightning its distribution, different types of light and color of

INTRODUCTION OF LIGHTINING DESIGN
Light makes our eyes to see things. It is because of light that we are able to see and work.
Light is fundamental in architecture. It affects the usefulness of a building and the enjoyment of a building interior.
It also affects the way users feel about themselves and others. It shapes or misshapes the attraction a user feels
for the surrounding activities and objects; the resulting attitude is a major factor in maintaining effective interest
in an activity or task. The use of light is an inseparable part of the architectural conception. Many building projects
require the help of special consultants to solve complex problems of lighting system design. Designing a complete
and suitable luminous environment is more complicated than simply selecting lighting fixtures.

RESEARCH BOARD ON PENDANT LIGHT
A pendant light, sometimes called a drop or suspender, is a lone light fixture that hangs from the ceiling usually
suspended by a cord, chain, or metal rod. Pendant lights are often used in multiples, hung in a straight line over
kitchen countertops and dinette sets or sometimes in bathrooms. Pendants come in a huge variety of sizes and
vary in materials from metal to glass or concrete and plastic. Many modern pendants are energy-saving low
voltage models and some use halogen or fluorescent bulbs.
A billiard or island light is a longer pendant fixture, usually with long fluorescent or multiple incandescent bulbs,
used over kitchen islands and billiard tables They are sometimes considered a type of chandelier.
