other ways to get personal information or send the
malicious link to apps or websites to hack into the

information, such as bank account numbers, credit
card details, social security numbers, and personal
information.

4. 1. Phishing
When a user receives spam emails that contain unauthorized
attachments or URLs luring them to open the same, it is called phishing. The
objective of this act is to gain personal information of users or organizations by
tricking them. Some of them may be flagged but most of them do not show the
signs of any malpractice on the face.
Exmple:- An email from PayPal arrives telling the victim that their account has
been compromised and will be deactivated unless they confirm their credit card
details. The link in the phishing email takes the victim to a fake PayPal website,
and the stolen credit card information is used to commit further.
5. 2. Identity Theft
The definition of identity theft is the nonconsensual
acquisition of someone’s sensitive personal information. Simply put,
it’s when someone steals your personal details your social security
or other ID number, your credit card info, your birthday, and so on.
Usually, identity thieves will use that information to buy things,
obtain credit, or take other unwanted actions in your name.

Cyberbullying– It is also a Cyber Crime where computers, tablets, or
mobile phones are used to send, post, or share private, negative, or false
information about someone without their consent to cause embarrassment or
humiliation.
Bullying is generally understood as an aggressive and intentional act or
behaviour carried out by a group or an individual repeatedly and overtime against
a victim who cannot easily defend himself or herself. The term cyber bullying is
used to describe bullying taking place on the internet mostly through mobile
phones and social media

Online Shopping Scams: This is one of the most common
scams. Cybercriminals set up fake e-commerce websites or advertise
fake products on legitimate websites and trick people into making
purchases. Through these fake websites, they may also steal credit
card details to steal money.
8. 5.CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
Under The Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008, crime of
Child Pornography under Section 67-B say’s, Whoever publishes or transmits or
causes to be published or transmitted material in any electronic form that
depicts children engaged in sexually explicit act or conduct or creates text or
digital images, collects, seeks, browses, downloads, advertises, promotes,
exchanges or distributes material in any electronic form.
Depicting children in obscene or indecent or sexually explicit manner.
Induces children to online relationship with one or more children for and on
sexually explicit act.
In a manner that may offend a reasonable adult on the computer
resource. Facilitates abusing children online or records in any electronic form
pertaining to sexually explicit act with children is known as child pornography.
9. 6.Online Fake Loan Apps
The nexus while providing loan would access the photos and contact list of
the mobile phone of victims and used to threaten the victim and relatives by phone
and message for loan recovery and when the victim was unable to pay the money,
used to mentally torture by blackmailing through calls and WhatsApp messages
Instant loans without any official documentation might sound like a boon to
some. But the lenders turn out to be fraud in most of the cases.
Many such incidents have been reported from across the country in the
recent past. Borrowers have complained about app-based lenders using
coercive methods for recovery.
