HOW TO WRITE JOB APPLICATION (Class XII)

Job Applications are usually written in response to
advertisements published in a newspaper/
magazine / website.
After obtaining the desired qualifications, one
needs a suitable job to serve and utilize the
qualifications earned. It requires a hard work
and perfect decision making ability to avail
the opportunities available to do a job. The
opportunity starts with writing an application
with specific information and mentioning
personal abilities to the employer so as to
convince him to offer the opportunity.
So, writing a job application is an art of writing letter
that determines what is the first impression of your
overall personality before the employer.
2. What is an ‘APPLICATION FOR JOB’?
It is a letter to the employer who presents an opportunity for
you to apply for a job in his/her organization or office.
This opportunity comes to the job seeker through
advertisements published in various media sources.
You need to write an application along with an attached
Bio-data/Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
You need to present your highest suitable qualifications,
qualities, experiences etc. in the letter.
3. Types of Application for Job:
SOLICITED APPLICATIONS
These applications are written in response to the advertisement appeared
in the newspapers or the magazines. These advertisements convey the
need of different kind of personnel who posses the necessary qualifications
and abilities/skills for the job. Any candidate having the requisite
qualifications can apply for this job.
UNSOLICITED APPLICATIONS
An unsolicited application is for which no advertisement has been
published. A candidate knows about this vacancy or post from a reliable
source. The candidate can approach directly and request to consider him
as the best suitable candidate for the post.

6. STRUCTURE OF JOB-APPLICATION
APPLICANT’S ADDRESS (Writer’s Address)
On the top Left Hand Side. It is sender’s address. It is the first thing to be
written.
One should write his/her House No, Street No & Name in the first line.
In the second line, Area /Post Office should be written
In the third line, the name of the District & State should be written.
DATE:
Date should be written in the format of DD/MONTH_NAME/YYYY
Eg. 22nd APRIL 2020
There should be gap on one line between the Applicant’s Address and
the date.
The word ‘Date’ or ‘Dated’ should not be written

EMPLOYER’S ADDRESS
Employer’s address should be written below the Date.
There should be one line gap between the date and the Employer’s
address.
The first line of the Employer’s address must have the Designation / Post
of the employer.
The second line of the Employer’s address should have the Name of
the Office/Name of the Company/ Name of the Department etc.
The third and fourth lines should have Building No./Street Number/ and
District / State.

8. STRUCTURE OF JOB-APPLICATION SALUTATION
The salutation should be written little below the employer’s address.
Use ‘Dear Sir’ if the application is addressed to business concern and
not to a person.
Only the word ‘Sir’ can be used in case of formal job like. Govt. jobs.
BODY OF THE LETTER
This is a very important part of the application and it can be written
or expressed in following ways:
Whole application like a piece of writing with paragraphs giving
the details of qualifications experience etc.
Writing an introductory paragraph and then biodata / curriculum
vitae in main part of the application.
Biodata or curriculum vitae should be attached with a covering
letter

9. STRUCTURE OF JOB-APPLICATIONBODY OF THE LETTER (Cont….)
When you mention details of your biodata in the main application you should carefully express
following details:
Mention the date and the name of the newspaper containing the advertisement for the post
The paragraphs should be direct and precise with details of the job, your qualification, experience
and other extra-curricular activities.
Mention about specific qualifications required for the post. Unrelated information should be
avoided.
While writing about previous experience, you must refer:
About your previous employer the post held
The specific duties performed
Period of service
Reason for leaving the job
The information about present employer, salary the nature of the job and reasons for leaving
the job.
Also write about your hobbies
If it is required, mention about your references
Don't forget to write about your attitude, skills, achievement of your potential job.
The concluding paragraph should end with an assurance that you will discharge your duties or
assignments diligently and satisfaction to your colleagues and seniors.

If the application is for a senior post, you must write Yours sincerely
Please make a habit of writing the words With regards before writing Yours
sincerely or Yours faithfully.
After writing Yours sincerely, put your signature neatly.
Write your Full Name below your signature
ENCLOSURES
You should mention the documents enclosed
1) Bio-Data
2) Attested copies of requisite documents.
3) Self declaration certificate
4) Etc.
