Observations
• A girl in a blue Hofstra sweatshirt and yoga pants fried
hash browns and meatballs
• She cleaned up quietly and sat at the table next to her
boyfriend and they shared the food
• She forgot to turn off the burner
• She took off her sweatshirt to eat and then put it back
on when she was finished
• Her boyfriend ate very little
• She took off her moccasins and sat on her feet while
she ate
• Minimal conversation while she cooked and while they
ate

substantial had someone with them
• Students had little experience in the kitchen
• Students were impatient while making their
“food”
• Students seemed distracted, like they were
thinking about many other things besides
cooking
