The Ludhiana chapter of the Assocham Ladies League (ALL) held its first meeting on July 22, 2013. ALL aims to empower and support women globally through networking. At the meeting, members discussed initiatives like cleaning the city, screening documentaries, and using social media for social work. ALL later took responsibility for student placements and met with the Mayor to address the city's garbage problem by piloting clean-ups in several wards. ALL continued its beautification projects through park makeovers and distributed supplies to needy children. It also initiated educational talks and presentations on segregating and composting household waste.

The Ludhiana chapter of ALL had its very first meeting at TRIDENT
Industries on
22 July, 2013.
ASSOCHAM Ladies League has a most unique vision of connecting women
across the globe and nurturing the cause of women in as many diverse ways
as possible. The overarching aim is to create a worldwide web of women to
support and empower one another, beyond boundaries.
Various issues were taken up. Foremost was the issue of cleanliness of the
city.
Going forward it was decided to have weekly meetings with the Mayor and the MC
staff. Screening of a documentary in theatres and sharing of all social work and
spreading positivity through Ludhiana Cares face book page was also discussed.

Taking cue from this initiative ALL had its first meeting with the Mayor on 22nd
August,2013 in the Mayor’s office. The main agenda of this meeting was to deal with the
garbage menace in the city. Objective being to assist the Councillors, MC staff and
waste management company A2Z. After discussing various issues it was decided to
initiate this drive with ward 56 as the pilot project. Since then ALL has taken up
Wards 47, 48, 52, 53, 54, 55, 59 and 60.
Few of the group members had earlier initiated a drive for a clean and green Ludhiana
by walking down the streets of Model Town and encouraging the residents
to take responsibility of the area around their homes and work places.

Inspired by ‘Satyamev Jayatey’ ALL initiated presentations and talks on
Segregation and Composting in various clubs, kitty parties and get togethers as we felt
thatSegregating at source at home and composting of kitchen waste is the most
effective way of eliminating garbage from reaching the dumps and landfills
ALL initiated talks with MC in this regard and it was decided that
Colored bins will be provided for segregating by A2z.
MC to put notices in newspapers and theatres and also distribute pamphlets.

Presentation on segregation and Composting in Maharaja Regency

Working towards Clean Ludhiana and garbage disposal, ALL started with the
education campaign of garbage segregation and composting with a talk at Ladies
Kitty meeting.
The talk highlighted on the need of segregation of home waste into
biodegradable and non biodegradable.
Advantage of using the kitchen waste to compost in your own garden and then to
utilize that as manure for plants and kitchen garden was emphasized too.

The ladies of Neharika club were given a presentation on segregation and composting ,
so that we can get rid of the garbage dumps which spread out on roads
and are an eye sore for Ludhiana as a community .
