Challenges
 Scientechnic's sheet metal manufacturing factory is located in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area of Dubai,
where the ambient temperatures are higher than 44°C, especially in the summer
 In addition to high ambient temperatures, activities such as sheet metal shearing, bending, etc.,
generate a high amount of sensible heat inside the factory
 Scientechnic needed a cooling system to provide a comfortable working environment for their workers,
working in a double height factory building spread over an area of 35,000 square feet
 Cooling the space with conventional air conditioning (AC) systems was ruled out, as it would entail
high operating cost, and especially because air recirculation is not advised in manufacturing areas
 The management at Scientechnic needed a sustainable solution that would provide a comfortable
working environment for the workers and still be economical to operate

Solution
 After a detailed study of the plant, ambient conditions, and the heat load, HMX proposed the
installation of IDEC (Indirect Direct Evaporative Cooling) units, which would provide:
 100% fresh, cool and filtered air
 Continuous removal of dust and fumes
 Better IAQ (indoor air quality)
 Low operating expenses as compared to a conventional AC system

Result – a happy customer!
 HMX IDEC units are supplying air at 19.2°C while the outdoor temperature is around 44°C in summer.
Workstations inside the factory are maintained at a temperature of less than 28°C.
 Better Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) as 100% fresh, cool, and filtered air is diffused to the individual working
stations creating a comfortable environment around the workers
 Positive pressure ensures a dust free environment
 Energy consumption is less than half of conventional air-conditioning systems – a highly cost-effective
solution
 Scientechnic is very happy with the performance of the HMX-IDEC units
