Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

2. Two popular methods of sending text online or Internet sms by using computer We all are very aware about the messages and their importance in our day to day life. Use of messages has a very long history sand there are evidences that ancient people were sending messages for administrative purpose or for well being of loved ones and message carrier was our very own pigeon. Yes! This is absolutely true that in history birds were used to send or receive messages from the far flung places. Now what we see is a totally different picture but the basics are the same for message sending - Make it small and make it effective. There could be a long discussion on the topic that whether the text or the oral words are more effective method of communication.
3. Now we all use messages on our mobiles, more popularly known as sms (Short messaging service) and MMS (Multi media messaging service), to express our feelings or opinions. As a matter of fact around 75 percent of all the mobile users either send or receive messages daily and number of messages sent or received per day is in billions. Text message is now the most important value added service to any telecommunication service provider. Businesses can not afford to pass by from such a potential marketing tool with a reach to billions of audience. Commercial use of messages is the most common thing in today’s environment. Two popular methods of sending text online or Internet sms by using computer
4. Two popular methods of sending text online or Internet sms by using computer There is a basic difference in the regular text message or message from the commercial side. Any regular text messages originate from a mobile and ends at mobile or any phone while commercial messages get originated from the computer and ends at mobile or phone. Messages sent from a computer are also known as Internet sms, text online and pc sms. There are two ways to send text online one is to use any third party’s online interface to send messages and other is to use own sms online gateway to send messages.
5. Two popular methods of sending text online or Internet sms by using computer Many companies provide websites where a user can send a text message to any mobile number free of cost and when you do not have balance in your mobile or don’t want to spend balance on sending messages then you can always use online text as a substitution. Online text has got one more benefit apart from being absolutely free, it is faster to type messages on the pc rather then on the phone itself. But such online interfaces can not be used to send messages at large scale or bulk sms hence are not effective for the commercial use.
6. Two popular methods of sending text online or Internet sms by using computer Thousands of messages are needed to be sent even in a medium scale bulk sms campaign and it is very important that message sending process should be fast enough otherwise it will impact the over all performance of the project and increment in the total cost of the project will also occur therefore people use sms gateway to send Internet sms. Sms gateway is the facility provided by many telecommunication service providers to send Internet sms in bulk. Often the cost of sending Internet sms by using sms gateway is quite low as compared to the regular messaging service as telecommunication companies get profit from the quantity. There is a requirement of arranging some other tools like smsapi and sms software in order to make any business campaign much more effective and fast.
7. Two popular methods of sending text online or Internet sms by using computer Summary – Text messages are in use for hundreds of years and there is hardly any one not aware of sms service provided by many telecommunication service providers. Messages are being used to promote businesses as well by using computers to send messages and are known as Internet sms.
