- Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21st, 1899 in a small
suburb of Oak Park, Illinois right outside of Chicago.
- His father Clarence Edmond Hemingway was a physician, and
his mother Grace-Hall Hemingway was a famous musician.
-After high school Ernest left for Italian front for World War I to
be with the ambulance drivers. Shortly after he had to come home,
because he got wounded. His novel “A Farewell to Arms” was
influenced by his time at war.
- Later in life Hemingway had two permanent residences; one was
in Key West, FL, and Cuba.

Ernest Hemingway’s writing was influenced by his own life. Hemingway having a
dark side to him, from dealing with bi-polar mania and depression, really affected
the way he wrote. You could really see that side come out in a lot of his novels.
Ernest also traveled a lot during his life. He wrote about the different places he has
been to, and all of the sites he has seen.
